He almost cost Bama a victory over Ohio St it was the Kickoff Classic. Anyone remember this game? "Ohio State last hopes ended without a score at the Crimson Tide's 18-yard line even after they got 2 extra plays with no time left when Alabama's LB Derrick Thomas was called for pass interference on successive plays." If I remember right this was the first year that interference wasn't a sport foul. Bama won the game 16-10
Quick trivia question. Who replaced Derrick Thomas for that one play?
Answer: It was Chris Goode, who went on to have a very nice NFL career of his own.
What a story for the grandchildren. "There it was, the game on the line for Bama, and Coach Perkins sent me in to replace one of Alabama's all time greats..."
