i was just considering the type of plays that Auburn runs with the modified spread eagle and then Floorda with their zone read stuff.

we may see a lot more of Dareus given his speed and agility.

also... did you notice that the floorda offensive line was getting nicked up pretty good in the last game? i'm wondering how that may factor into the SECCG if they can't get healthy and if we stay healthy on D.

all of you devoted Bama fans that have some spare time should back up and watch the Ole Miss/Floorda game. i'm gonna tell you Floorda's offensive line got WHOOPED up front. we don't necessarily have a Greg Hardy type player, but i think the sum of our parts could yield the same kind of day for Tebow. i know that they had some crucial fumbles in that game, but he was visibly rattled as were several other players. Ole Miss punched them in the mouth and it worked.

if there's one thing i'm confident about with this year's Bama team is that they most definitely are going to punch you in the mouth. that's as certain as the coin toss.

i hope the Aub game isn't too rough on our LOS.

As I see it Cody does one thing better than anyone else in the country, thats draw double teams. This is very important against teams like Florida, and to a lesser extent Auburn.

When Cody draws a double team, that leave 10 of our guys to handle 9 of there's. What make Cody critical in these cases is that their QBs are supposed to be a player that must be accounted for by the defense, unlike a pro-style drop back QB.

Further, I think you touched on one of our edges against Florida -- Mouth punching :D . If that works in our favor, I can't see Cody holding a clip board.

Frankly, I'd take a few more of him if we could find him.

Oh, he will see plenty of playing time vs. UF. He stops up that middle, that messes up their inside trap play where they pull the TE, hand it to Percey and he shoots off the center and guard. They love running it to the left. Cody lines up off center to the left and that play will not work. No where for him to run, or Demps or Rainey. We need him to close up the middle and make Florida to run wide. That give our LBs the chance to be ready and counter the speed of UF.

That's one of the early observations I made about UF...one of the reasons I think we'll match up well against them.

I would say the only negative thought I have about this is if there is a team that can beat us running wide and catching the corner, it's Florida.

I'm definitely worried about their speed. But with Cody clogging the middle, our LBs should be able to fire around the edge and stop Rainey, Demps, and Harvin.

I don't see his reps going down that much against the Barn. the Barn runs more out of a undercenter formation .

As for Florida, you may see alot of a 3 man rotation with Cody, Chapman, and Dareus.

Cody may be a wanted man after that game. The first time Tebow fakes the hand off and goes up the middle and Cody lands on him there will be Teballs everywhere.

In order for Florida to be successful they have to run the ball up the middle. Cody will be in there all night long.

I agree. I think Saban will try to stop the run from the inside-out. People talk a lot about stopping their speed but what makes their speed so dangerous is that you have to account for the middle first. They are able to hold the LB's and safeties long enough for their speed guys to gain a step. If you want to have success you have to force Florida to be 1 dimensional in their run game. Make them abandon the middle.

And this is a total guess but I think we might see some of Mark Barron in this game.

I see Cody playing alot in the UF game.

The 3-4 was put there to STOP the spread. By freeing up a LB you are able to cover the field more and still prevent the other team from running up the middle.
