🏈 Coach's Poll is out

While everyone is pointing out that most of Auburn's tough SEC games are at home, let's take a stroll down memory lane and look at the 2009 Alabama SEC Schedule:

Arkansas
@Kentucky
@Ole Miss
South Carolina
Tennessee
LSU
@Mississippi State
@ Auburn

So, travel to Lexington, Oxford and Starkville--the same EXACT road game schedule Auburn had this year. Then at home for USCjr, Tennessee, LSU and Arkansas before travelling to Auburn for the Iron Bowl. Auburn plays the same exact SEC road game schedule, save the trip to Bryant-Denny at the end of the year. I feel fairly certain you didn't try to cheapen your run last year by pointing out the tough games were at home, eh?

Auburn should be ahead of BSU in the polls--period. At home or not, Auburn has taken down three top 12 SEC teams. They knocked off a Kentucky team that turned around and knocked off a rising South Carolina team. Any road win in the SEC is nothing to scoff at under any circumstance. Granted it was Mississippi State, but they were jacked for that game. They felt cheated by not getting Cam, they remembered what happened when they came to our house last year--that was as loud as I've ever heard that stadium. It isn't the same as walking into Bryant-Denny, Death Valley or Jordan-Hare but all SEC stadiums outside of Vanderbilt are raucous during a big game.

Ya wanna go back and look at our schedule from last year again bright guy. ;-)
How many of these teams had bye's the week before they played us? 6.

And Auburn played (plays, this year) eleven consecutive weeks without a bye week. Surely you don't think that is an irrelevant factoid.

Also, let's do some time travel together. Let's take a look back at the 2009 schedule and find....THREE....three teams had a bye week before playing Alabama last year. While it is fun to use the "six" because it is the big controversy this year, it was not so last year. Tennessee, Mississippi State and Auburn had bye weeks before Bama last year. Horrible Tennessee and Mississippi State teams had bye weeks before you welcomed them to town. Before the Auburn game you played UTC--not exactly a game in my opinion. Your starters barely played any of the second half so I consider that as close to a bye week as a team can get without actually not suiting up for the game. Before you try and make smart ass responses, check your facts, chief.

I think Auburn should be #1 or #2 - I haven't officially said it, but I don't want you to think I was discounting their wins at home...just stating the facts that the big games you guys all won them at home versus a hostile environment. Also this thought had nothing do do with your above post comparing schedules of bama to auburn, but more your thought that I was dumping on the barn.

Faire enough.

I'd be fine with #2, honestly. As long as the #1 team is Oregon.

I'm not a Auburn hater, but a Auburn fan hater more than anything. I was ok with Auburn for the most part until Tubberville starting holding up the fingers - that never sat well with me - he could have handled himself a little more professionally. Whats better, it only took one finger to get him outta there.

I liked Tuberville--I did. He was generally a good man. I could've lived without the finger thing, especially holding up the seven when he went on the tour of the war zone. If he had only put as much energy into recruiting as he put into getting under the skin of opposing teams, or duck hunting for that matter, he'd probably still be here. Oh well, ifs and butts...

I'm generally in the same boat you are. I don't dislike Bama--I HATE "those" fans. Yes we have them too and I hate ours too. If you can't handle success with class or admit when your team just doesn't have it, I have no use for you.
