🏈 Coach Bryants Statue at Legion Field

I read a few years back that the the statue will remain at Legion Field as long as Legion Field, well, is. After they tear down the Old Gray Lady, the statue will then be brought to Tuscaloosa.

I have not hear even speculation as to where in Tuscaloosa the statue will end up. But considering that there is already a statue of him in front of the Stadium that bears his name, LBS thinks that the odds on favorite would be the Museum that bears his name...you know, the one located on the Road that bears his name.

I say bring it to Tuscaloosa. We don't play ball in Birmingham anymore, so why leave it? I know Legion Field was a big part of our history, but since we've been gone from there for many years now, I think it would be best to just bring it home and put it outside the Bryant Museum.

You know, I had not thought about this before seeing this thread. But, the more I think about it, the more I want the U of A to make plans to bring the statue home. I don't want it sitting outside that decaying legion field anymore. Surely they can find a place for it in T town.

I think if it was set up outside the front door to the museum, it would be the perfect place. Legion Field in its prime was indeed a beautiful place but time has worn her down.

There the little matter of THEFT to consider.

The statue does not belong to the University. If I recall correctly it owned by the city of Birmingham or some entity based in Birmingham, who have made arrangements to display their statue outside Legion Field.

As I also recall, the owners have been gracious enough agree to move the statue to Tuscaloosa after the Legion Field is no more.

If they ever did finally tear down the old gray lady, where would UAB play?

The trouble is that the answer may be a long ways off.

Whereas the facility is flirting with POS status, the attendance levels would not be hard to accommedate should they choose to tear her down and rebuild a new right-sized facility. Further, keep the name would not be an issue because it follows the field as opposed to the stadium. The location is not so high vlaused that they could not afford to rebuild on the same site. All-in-all, UAB could be "playing" at Legion Field for a long time.

Neil Callaway's front yard... Still plenty of room and shade for the dozen fans that show up to watch them...

They need to move it to Tuscaloosa before it gets hit by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting.

Que the Chuck Norris type jokes.

Coach Bryant's Status was once hit by a stray bullet from a drive-by. The status apprehended the shooter and forced him to go to the University of Auburn becuase he missed his target.

Shooter of Bryant statue killed with own bullet...Statue caught it in its teeth and threw it back, killing the shooter.
