[It Takes Eleven]

If you haven't been there, the Civilian Marksmanship Program Outdoor Range near Talladega Superspeedway is billed as the most advanced outdoor range in the nation. Electronic scoring on the rifle ranges means it hardly goes cold, and there are sporting clay and handgun options, too. I took a group of buddies there in late February, and I was chatting with a guy whose shotgun-crossed Alabama State Flag cap caught my eye. Found out he was a coach for Bama's sporting clays team. One of the kids walked up and I took photos of both of their caps. Pretty neat, I'm going to have to get one.

That place is awesome. Been out there several times. That 600 yard range ain't no joke.

I installed their phone system and voice mail/auto attendant at their original site in Anniston, back about 12 years ago. Also did some IT work for them. Met R Lee Ermey there at one of their events. Have not seen their outdoor range, they were planning it to be at the old Ft McClellan ranges, I guess they changed their minds.

Yeah, the city has been trying to redevelop the McClellan property, probably more expensive than the timberland behind the super speedway.

Have not spent much time i the area in about 5 or 6 years. In fact, the last time I was even there, they had just opened the bypass across the mountain.

If any of you called into CMP during their first couple of years and heard a male voice on their auto attendant, then you heard my voice. Right before I left the area, we had one of the office ladies re-record the menus, she sounds a bit more professional than I did.
