šŸˆ Clemson or Oregon

first off let me say I still want the crystal ball, but it looks like we are definetly headed to the Orange Bowl unless utter chaos occurs most Orange Bowl Projections I've seen have us playing either Clemson or Oregon, most Clemson fans I know are dreading the thought of playing us in a BCS Bowl they're calling it West Virginia Part 2 and they're right we would skull drag Clemson I don't think it'd even be close, another I've seen is Bama vs Oregon I think The Ducks unlike Clemson would probably put some points on the board and keep it respectable for awhile, but in the end I think the result is the same Bama wins big, my prediction against both teams Bama 49- Clemson 17, Bama 44 - Oregon 28. in the end our Run Game would be too much for either.

Since 2006 the Orange Bowl has an exclusive agreement with the ACC to take the 2nd ranked team out of that conference. Oregon could go and play Clemson but Oregon can't go to face Bama.

Two of the main reasons I want Bama to play Clemson:

While we've got one of the best, if not the best, recruiting staff in the nation Dabo and his staff routinely slide south and get in the mix for recruits. They've had some success against SEC teams—sans UofSC—so in a manner of speaking I believe it would get the ship to list more towards our conference.

Secondly, and this is more of a personal want, I'm curious to see the reactions among some Bama fans with our team facing a Dabo coached squad. I've followed many conversations judging his coaching ability and would like to see reactions from fans if they play Bama close and if they get blown off the field.

OH, it's fairly easy for me to despise anything Orange...so there's that as well.

Thats actually not true, a team has to be in the Top 14 to even qualify for a BCS bowl. I think Clemson is #13 right now so if somehow they do fall out, it looks like a long shot, then the Orange Bowl gets to pick a replacement since Clemson and FSU are the only possible ACC BCS picks. They would have both the first replacement pick and the first at large pick.

You are forgetting Notre Dame's top 8 clause :)

I'm well aware of this. I should have been more clear in my post. I was looking at this season specifically, not the rules in general...despite my reference to the ACC's selection processes.

I don't see any way possible for Clemson to drop after this weekend.

A win for Northern Illinois over is not only improbable, but not enough to jump them over Clemson. UCF is on the very outside looking in and praying for a NIU loss.

I'd say it's more likely Clemson moves up with an AZ ST. or Mich St. loss.

I'd rather see Bama play Clemson. I, like Terry, also hate orange. Furthermore, my confidence in an Alabama win versus Oregon is terribly shaken after last Saturday's loss. I don't think I want to withstand the anxiety that game would bring me.

Agreed. I am wary of playing offenses like that .. Disappointed we couldn't contain 'em more. But Stanford did pretty much set a blueprint for how to top Oregon.

I was under the impression that UCF could win this weekend and get the automatic birth for the AAC. Doesn't matter if they are top 14 or not. Or did that change? I know in January of 2006, FSU was ranked 22 and won the conference and played #3 Penn State in the Orange. But it may have changed.

I also hope for Clemson. Of course, living south of Charlotte, I get sick of hearing USCe and Clemson fans talk smack all year about how they could whip the Tide... It's time for another lesson like we taught in 2008. Unfortunately, USCe beat us good in our last meeting in 2010.

It doesn't matter to me who we play, especially since it's such a long shot to play for the crystal ball. But I'd like to play Clemson before Oregon but with 3 weeks or more to prepare, we'd be ready.

AAC Champion earns automatic BCS berth. AAC, AAC, SEC, Big 10, Big XII, Pac 12 champions get automatic BCS berths. http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819597

When I was thinking about that this afternoon UCF to the Orange would mean Michigan State beats Ohio State and puts Auburn over Mizzou...

Uhhhh UGA lost to Auburn... in a very improbable manner like we did...

i'm sure you saw the second half of the uga/barn game??? they slowed au's run game pretty well and picked them apart passing. Aaron Murray put on a clinic of how to beat them.

i'm aware of the final score after the barn magic. i'm saying we could have maybe taken a page from what they did in the 2nd half as we have better players across the board... particularly in the receiving corps.

Well yeah I saw that, I also saw our defense clamp down on them for the entire 2nd quarter until allowing the TD at the end and the first one in the second half, and then doing the same until that late TD drive. You dont recall all the stops they made? What happened in between? That I cant answer...

And I think AJ did a pretty good job "Picking them apart" myself... one drive starting on his own one yard line and hitting Amari on a 40 yard pass in his own endzone on 3rd and long... and then on the very NEXT drive again at his own one hitting Amari on a 99 yard TD... but hey what do I know?

i don'[t want to take away from the big plays at all. they were great. i'm talking about the overall approach offensively that uga took in the 2nd half which totally exposed au's pass d. we did not take that approach. AJ's shoulder may have been the reason. i don't know. i'm through crying... waaaa.

I'm game for either. I can't stand that idiot Yabo Dabo. You would think he has always been a Clemson fan and was born to Danny Ford or Howard himself they way he's always blabbing about how great Clemson is. I've never heard a coach pitch his school like that guy, especially when they can't seem to win enough to back up the talk. He's a master at public speaking like yours truly Barry Obama, and much like Barry, he doesn't perform near to the level his mouth runs.

I would also like to drill Oregon and finally settle that freaking debate. Give our coaches that much time to prepare and we wipe the floor with them. Not to mention their offense has derailed the past few weeks. They're not the same Oregon, especially since playing Stanford, a team built just like us. They ran up the score and beat up on inferior competition early, but once they were in a dog fight each week they pretty much folded.

Hell, give me anyone. I;d like to see Florida State or Auburn again, but Clemson or Oregon isn't a bad conselation if we can't be on the big stage. They're matchups you rarely see (spare me the Chik-Fil-A matchup years ago) and would gain the attention of the entire country.
