Here's something that I was told this morning when I heard about this that struck me as interesting.

Wanna talk about opposite ends of the spectrum? With Coffee leaving, that puts us at 73 on scholarship.

With Smelley leaving USCe, that puts them at 51 on scholarship. Talk about a lack of depth!

I would love to welcome him back home. :)

Many of us hated to see him leave the area. I think it's safe to say the love affair with Tebow enabled Spurrier to come down and swoop him away. I don't really know the factors in why he wasn't successful at SC though.

There is only one SC...but I digress.

The reason he wasn't successful at USCe is because he was at USCe. To be honest, he didn't have to bad of a season when he was on. Definitely had an interception problem, but the whole QB crew did as well. Between the 3 QB's, they accounted for 24 INT's on the season...6 more INT's than TD's.

The USCe spin on this is he's leaving to play baseball. Heck, there aren't many better places to play baseball in the SE than USCe. Great program, fantastic coach.

Being a transfer, he would not be eligible in football next year anyway. Since USCe redshirted him already, he'd only have one year of football eligibility remaining. It is my understanding that since he did not play baseball up there he will be immediately eligible in that sport.

There used to be a rule in place, and I don't know if it is anymore, that if you transferred from one SEC school to another there was a two year wait.

Any idea if that is still the case?

I think the 2 year wait applies only if the other school does not grant a release.

Geez, just dawned on me...

What was the LB's name? Travis? Transferred under DuBuose to UF. You know the guy...the one the NCAA said got a deal on a car he didn't have to pay for ignoring the fact he skipped on his car note?

How long did he sit?
