TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt will interview for the defensive coordinator position at Florida State Friday, a source close to the situation has told Tidesports.com.

Pruitt has been Alabama's secondary coach since 2010, when he was promoted to coach defensive backs from a role as UA's Director of Player Development. He has a reputation as a strong recruiter, having been named the Recruiter of the Year in the Southeastern Conference by ESPN. He has strong recruiting ties in the Mobile area and has effectively recruited the Florida Panhandle as well, having played a key role in Alabama signing running back T.J. Yeldon of Daphne, and Eddie Williams of Panama City, Fla.

Fisher lost his defensive coordinator when Mark Stoops accepted the head coaching position at Kentucky. Former Southern Miss head coach Ellis Johnson was reportedly a primary candidate for the FSU defensive coordinator position, but never interviewed for the job after agreeing to take on the same role at Auburn.

Other potential candidates for FSU's defensive coordinator position include New Orleans Saints defensive line coach Travis Jones, and former Tennessee defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri, both of whom worked with Fisher at LSU under head coach Nick Saban. Sunseri was Alabama's outside linebackers coach through the 2011 season.
