The Alabama Season Will Be A Success If …
It wins the national title. How did it feel getting to the College Football Playoff at the end of the 2014 and 2016 seasons without coming away with the national championship trophy?

To be fair, winning yet another SEC Championship and making it 4-for-4 in CFP appearances would be fantastic no matter what. But, of course, Alabama is at a whole other level of college football expectations right now – with only Ohio State hanging around the top floor. Win it all, Alabama, or it’s a failed opportunity.

Key Player To A Successful Season
OT Matt Womack, Soph. – The Alabama offensive line is always going to be very, very good, but this one needs a wee bit of work. There isn’t the sure-thing superstar tackle to work the offense around, but Jonah Williams if very, very good. He’ll likely move from the right side into Cam Robinson’s spot on the left, and that leaves the right tackle gig open.

The 6-7, 326-pound Womack will get a shot after spending time as the backup on the left side, but if Lester Cotton isn’t right at guard, he could kick outside after playing behind Williams. Got all that? Basically, the right tackle job needs to be great.

-Meh.

Realistic Best Case Scenario

It’s Alabama, so the best case scenario is going 12-0. However, 11-1 wouldn’t be too bad with one clunker along the way against a Texas A&M on the road or to open against Florida State in Atlanta. However, it would have to take a big upset to take down the Tide. The four road games – Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn – aren’t horrendous, and getting Tennessee and LSU at home shouldn’t be a problem.
Why does A&M continue to get slated as "one of those possible upsets when the _____ travels to Kyle Field?" Since they've been in the SEC they've won six--count them, six--home games. Six, out of 17 played with wins against Mississippi State (2,) UofSC, Mizzou, Vandy, and a seven point win over Tennessee last year. The seven point win over UT may be the best of that bunch--a 9-4 team on the season with a .500 conference record. The thing is, that's the same record as another one of their home wins, against Vandy.

So, why? Texas A&M hasn't been a good team at home.

Looks to me like we continue to have a number of credible options at RT, not sure what the writer meant by having to be great. It's RG that's been giving us the problem. The best thing that could happen to the OL is someone takes ownership of the RG job.
