As always, I reserve the right to change my mind at least five different times and ways over the next week-plus. This is the knee-jerk, off-the-cuff, clichƩ-riddled first-thought prediction.
Ohio State has the right mix.
I really donāt like feeding into the narrative, but yeah, considering there was next-to-no real lag time between the conference championships and the playoff, only playing seven games really might matter. Even more than that, several Buckeyes didnāt even play that many games.
This is one fresh team.
However, Alabama doesnāt look at all like itās dragging. The offense isnāt going to slow down, but to keep going back to the SEC Championship, Ohio State right now might have a wee bit of a defense to go along with Floridaās passing game.
Everything in my being goes against picking against Alabama in a national championship game ā and again, this might change after doing a far deeper dive ā but ā¦
