Translation for those without inter-generational linguistic skills: SEC football is full of badass dudes. Actually, many Men of a Certain Age wouldn't know Stallings' reference, either. He's at least another generation ahead of them, and the saying probably comes from his Dad.

Soap box moment: Today, everyone goes their own way, wearing headphones, instead of sitting around listening to the adults as I did growing up. Having an ability to communicate with folks much older is a path to enrichment.

I'm only 36, but I'm pretty sure he means that real men play in the SEC, kids wear shorts. Why do I know this? Look at Anguy Young, he wears "school boy's shorts" as a costume...
