🏈 CFB COMMITTEE POLL #3

I am starting to see a lot of cracks in this stupid "playoff committee" (which is not surprising). I get the feeling that ultimately the goal is to get a balance of conference representation in the playoff. Not necessarily the best teams.

SEC fatigue and anti-Bama bias. We'd have been better off leaving the BCS alone. We're #3 in the Coaches poll, #4 in the AP, and #1 in ESPN's FPI.

In the Sagarin ratings we are #1 and that includes the ELO and Predictor. We have the #3 SOS going 1-1 against top 10 and 6-1 against top 30. By comparison, Oregon is ranked #8 with [HASHTAG]#22[/HASHTAG] SOS and 0-0 against top 10 and 4-0 against top 30. TCU is ranked #5 with the #23 SOS and 1-1 against top 10 and 3-1 against top 30. But they're both ranked ahead of us. Interestingly, FSU is ranked number [HASHTAG]#14[/HASHTAG] in the Sagarin poll. Unbelievable.

What if Bama wins a very close controversial game with MSU that is so close and controversial that the committee leaves MSU in at #3 or #4 and leaves Bama at #5 and then MSU wins out, and Bama wins out, and Oregon wins out, and F$U wins out, and TCU wins out? Bama stay at #5? You betcha!

But, you ask, how are they going to put the 11-1 loser of Bama-MSU in, and leave the 12-1 winner of Bama-MSU out? Exact same question I asked of Bama and LSU in 2011, but I have yet to find someone who thinks LSU would have been in the NCG at 12-1 had they lost to UGA.

Consider this: Oregon wins out and then wins their playoff game. However, two of their offensive lineman are injured in the playoff game , and they subsequently lose the Championship game. It should be obvious to anyone that Oregon would have won if it were not for the injuries to their starting lineman. The committee then awards them the inaugural trophy by default. Go Ducks!

I fear @BigCrimson is right. The committee seems to be positioning teams to spread the wealth among the conferences.

I bet you Texas would have loved it that way.:D
