Cecil's column

“We had several chances to score and we didn’t,” Saban said. “We could have changed the game earlier than we did.

“We’re not out there playing to protect our defense. We want explosive plays on offense. We were doing a good job running the football, but when we play against big, physical teams with big, fast people up front, we have to be able to throw the ball. We have got to attack the middle of the field and make [the other team] defend that area. We haven’t done that in two games.

“Then, in the fourth quarter, when we were trying to let the air out of the ball, we had two penalties and had to punt to them. Once, that let them score a touchdown. If you do those things in a two-point game, you’re in trouble.”

I always love Cecil's column. I always feel like he's the only columnist that's watching the same games I am.

Roll Tide Cecil!

It doesn't hurt (no pun intended) that he actually watches the games he comments on instead of trying to read the box score and interpret. We are luck to have him coving the Tide.

Have I mentioned how much I love the fact that CNS is our coach?

Amen! I gotta say the first time the camera panned to him on the sideline during the Western Carolina game I almost choked up. I turned to my wife and said "can you believe he's OUR coach". It was almost as moving as being in the Vandy stadium saturday watching him lead the team in from the tunnel.

"We have got to attack the middle of the field and make [the other team] defend that area. We haven’t done that in two games." Saban
This kind of awareness is the difference between a good team and a mediocre team coach.

Also Saban has to feel the energy in an away game...raining...the game in hand...and a continual ROLL TIDE chant going on.

I think we have enough tools to win many games and the right coach.

ROLL TIDE!!
