CECIL HURT
With the fearsome reputation that preceded him to Tuscaloosa, some might have suspected that Saban, in his new role as Alabama’s football coach, was just looking to “make an example” out of the first unwitting player to step out of line. In that context, “make an example” means roughly, to use the memorable phrase from Pulp Fiction, to “go medieval” on the player, stopping not at mere suspension and humiliation but moving right on to thumbscrews and hot pokers.
