| FTBL CBS picks up Bama vs Ole Miss

Super duper. That game immediately got closer by one touchdown.

I know I'm being rediculous in chalking up our performance to the network broadcasting us...But we just don't have good luck recently on the 2:30 CBS broadcast. Is this the final year of the CBS contract, or did I just hear that from an uninformed person?

I'm hoping that after two weeks of Saban chewing butts they'll be ready to turn their pent up aggression out on Ole Missy.

Oh great. We get Humpty Dumpty and Ichabod Crane calling the game once again. Oh well, at least it's in high def.

Great for me and those of us going to the game. We get the prime 2:30 time without having to get to Tuscaloosa at breakfast time (for Raycom) or leaving past midnight (for ESPN). I'm sorry for the rest of you though. I don't know if I can stomach another Lundquist/Danielson game. It was painful to listen to Sat.

I hate to wish illness on anybody, but maybe Danielson will come down with a severe case of laryngitis a week from Saturday.

It was the final year.

They have another deal in place, for 15 years to the tune of @ 55 million dollars a year. FWIW, that is right at two times the amount of the last contract we had that was an 8 year deal.

FWIW, you probably know they are already streaming the CBS afternoon games on Saturday. There was specific terms about this in the new contract. I expect us to see a pretty big difference in the amount of coverage we see for the SEC next season via the online projects they have in the works.

The 15 year, $800 million deal signed by the SEC pales in comparison to the 15 year, 2.25 Billion dollar deal signed with ESPN.

Stay safe over there, ya hear? ;tr ;sal

One has to wonder where ESPN is going to come up with that 800 mill in today's economic climate. We may see a shrinking of capital markets for several years, and no return to where we were for 30-40 years. 800 million may be harder to come by in the short term and long term future.

One more question: If CBS is streaming the game on the intarwebs, and the Quad at Tuscaloosa has wifi on it, is it possible for me to sit on the quad and watch the game on my computer? Even as a non-student?

I'm not for certain, but I think you have to have a student/alumni log-in to log onto the campus wifi. At least you did last spring during A-Day. They might turn that off during the actual gamedays though, I don't know.

Now that you mention that, I think you might be right...it's been over a year since I used the wi-fi system there.

I can't recall now that I think about it...

Any idea about the start time for Tennessee-Bama is? I'm guessing with a Tennessee this weekend we could be looking at an 11:30 kickoff again on Raycom.
