🏈 Carpenter won't back down

off to a good start. Funny, the guy that for the most part went unnoticed (I'm saying this in a very good way), went first round and off to a good start at camp. I find myself wondering, why Andre hasn't lived up to expectations. It is my opinion that Andre got way more fan love than James ever did - hence the "unnoticed" comment above.

Roll Tide James.

I still recall seeing Saban say, "James Carpenter went in the first round" in almost what you could describe as disbelief.

I can't blame him. I was shocked as well.

We might try adopting the monicker "OLU." Think about how many offensive lineman we have had taken as of late. James, Andre, Chris, and we'll add a few more this year, no doubt.

Makes me recall this as well...remember so many people talking about how we could have done better than Pendry?

I was as shocked as anybody when Bobby went first round. But, he did great for us.

As for Andre I think what has hurt him is holding out missing most of camp then breaking his foot, but I think the biggest reason he hasn't lived up to the hype is laziness. I have read several Bengals' beat writers that have said he's lazy and has a kind of "I'm a top draft pick, so I'm entitled". Just look at his weight issues. When he finally got to camp the Bengal coaches were angry at how out of shape he was.

ironic thing about Andre, this is his first year to suit up with helmet/pads in training camp...craziness. Read the big guy lost weight on his own during the lockout, sounds like he might have things in place to change some minds.

I'm glad I'm not the only person shocked that he went that high. He is talented enough to earn it, however.

As for Andre, he's lazy. He was spoiled by playing athletically inferior people. He is super-talented but didn't have to work that hard to be successful until he went pro. If he ever pulls his head from his rectum and develops a work ethic he will be very good.

That sure did fade quickly...but, I had my doubts at first. Hell, if I remember correctly he had come from a Houston Texans team that had given up a league worst in sacks...don't know what the situation was, but obviously it wasn't lack of coaching.
