If Kirby ends up getting a raise and it's large enough to make him one the top paid coach in the country, Saban gets a raise automatically. The higher schools push the top end the more he makes: contractually.
Yes, but comparatively speaking … Saban and his seven NC’s deserves to make a whole lot more than just pushing him slightly above what guys like Smart and Jimbo with one make … and certainly more than Kelly with none makes.

Just because a coach has an outstanding year and wins the National Championship, this should not be a reason to make them one of the highest or highest paid coaches in the country. There is ample evidence of of coaches having very good years, getting a huge pay raise and then being gone within a couple of years because they got stupid again. Not a smart move in my opinion. Yes, pun intended. :)

Omg...look at Michigan state HC for.....his season...
That was unbelievable....
Certainly keep him from being poached...if anybody was really interested

Can somewhat justify Smart...recruiting...SEC championships...NC...
But some ofothers....just money being thrown around byrich boosters..( seeAnM)

When boosters have millions to throw at a coach who has a good year or two, they do. Nobody ever accused boosters of being smart when it comes to giving away millions to athletic causes.
