šŸˆ Can we end Golding’s tenure tonight and end the rehab assignments?

There is no way in hell Nick is bringing Bill back in 2023. He will not fire him tomorrow even though that would be good. His MO is to allow coaches to move on and get a new gig and be announced at that gig well before Nick even mentions the change.

Pete got the gig because Nick fuked up with promoting Tosh to the DC because he didn't want to lose him as a recruiter. We've been in a freefall since.

I don't think you're wrong there. After the last couple of years, the best coach ever could overcome Golding's recruiting. We're trying to act like he hasn't filled that position many times already. He effed up because he got complacent and was trying to show what I can only take as loyalty. That being said, Golding is still at fault for his defenses getting drilled.

We will likely never know the real reason but I think some context with coaching turnover during that time may also be part of it. I think he was trying to grow Golding into what he hoped would be the next Smart like DC. Doing this with Golding also helped with stability which I think is really what he was trying to do.

Saban isn't dumb, but you have to wonder his reasoning after simply looking at Total Defense rankings during his tenure and what went so wrong, why, when, and here is a decision I have to make. Has he lost his fire? Is he looking for ways to decrease his responsibilities cause he's tired? You gotta give a new guy time to grow in the normal work force, no doubt. But after YEARS, it's time to revisit and see if that employee is teachable and has growth potential.

I think he has been trying to slow down these coordinators from jumping ship every other year in the hopes of continuity. Clearly, we can see how well that is paying dividends now.

However, the competitive spirit of this team is lax to say the least. That's on him. I can't help thing that his age is playing some part of that.

The other thing is that this teams leadership is nonchalant & full of crap. No real leader on the OL. No real leader at WR. Don't get me started back on To'o To'o. Will Anderson has been running his mouth about being mad at other teams taking the field & not delivering. How was Battle so far out of position that TE?! It's flabergasting!!! These "leaders" are lacking & need to STFU & get to work!

That we agree on and Golding has had enough time. You know I have been saying the D is not living up to the standard for a few years now. Started with Tosh and got a little better under Golding but still below the standard.

This year's defense is the most underachieving defense I have ever seen.

Two first round outside linebackers (Anderson and Turner). Whether I agree or not, three first round defensive backs (McKinstry, Branch, and Ricks). Easily some second, third, and fourth round picks everywhere else on defense.

It takes someone reeeeeeeaaaaaal special to mess that up.

I feel so stupid now saying before the season I did not see a loss for us because we had talent at every single position. I still think we have the talent, but we are missing something.

Yep, it's hard to take. I know people hate me saying NIL has some responsibility with this, but I cannot help but think it's taking away for preparation, focus, and hunger. Money in the NFL was what built that hunger, but our guys are coasting off the standard set by teams before them. They think they come to Alabama and it of course just means they are the best, make the money, get to star on the field, yadda yadda. Is Georgia's team getting all those deals, no. Are they fighting every Saturday like it's their last play ever and hungry like Alabama when Saban came, yes.
