Cam Robinson started all 14 games for the University of Alabama football program in 2014, a true freshman thriving at one of the most important positions on the field: left tackle.
JK Scott proved his worth over and over again during his freshman campaign, booming punts 50-plus yards with regularity and with a hang time that made it difficult for opposing teams and their starting field position.
For their efforts, Robinson and Scott were named to the Football Writers Association of America's Freshman All-American team, the organization announced Wednesday.
It wasn't all smooth sailing for Robinson, the 6-foot-6, 323-pounder. He sustained a high ankle sprain on the road against Tennessee.
Against Auburn, he sustained a shoulder injury. But he never missed a start.
Scott was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation's best punter. He averaged 48 yards per punt with 31 of 55 punts downed inside the opponents 20-yard line.
He had a season-best of 73 yards and 23 punts traveled at least 50 yards.
Robinson and Scott were two of six SEC players named to the team, including running back Nick Chubb, Georgia; all-purpose back Leonard Fournette, LSU; defensive lineman Derek Barnett, Tennessee, defensive lineman Myles Garrett, Texas A&M.
