🏈 Calloway de-commits from Bama; Swann chooses Georgia over Tide

Track Record sort of implies the past. And not seeing everything through Crimson colored glasses is far from idiotic. Saban will get most of the running backs he wants, and many will succeed, but you probably won't have another Mark Ingram for a while. Meanwhile I see no reason to believe Auburn won't continue to send it's starters at running back to the NFL.

I don't really follow the NFL but how many RB's are Auburn alums? I wouldn't think it's significantly more than Alabama.

Off the top of my head......

Bo Jackson
Stephen Davis
Rudi Johnson
Carnell Williams
Ronnie Brown

Those are the successful ones. And although Heath Evans isn't technically a tail back, he's had a very good career in the NFL.

The only Bama running backs that I can think of since I've been alive is Shaun Alexander and LeRon McClain. Darby is still kicking, but I wouldn't necessarily put him in the same category as those other backs.

So, at least in the last 30 years, I'd give Auburn the edge at successful backs in the NFL.

Going back a bit further, but still in your 30 year window: Bobby Humphrey, Kevin Turner, Siran Stacy, Sherman Williams. Kevin Turner was in the league for a long time. Sadly, Sherman Williams has been in prison for a long time.

I totally disagree with everything on this thread. If you are a top notch running back, dead set on making it on Sundays, it seems blatantly obvious that you would want to come to Alabama over Auburn, unless you are not one that likes to compete for PT at an elite program and would rather be assured of playing time, in which case you would go to the school that is lesser known for its running backs and offensive play book that caters to the position, the barn. It really could not matter any less about the last 30 years, the barn has Gus Mao-Zedong now, and Bama has Saban-- the latter of which is the coach who uses his running backs in a way that will get them noticed by the NFL.

Oh, and we won't have another Mark Ingram caliber RB in the near future? I guess the start of spring practice is not the near future?....... His name is Trent. And he's going to be/ is better than Mark.
