🏈 Calloway de-commits from Bama; Swann chooses Georgia over Tide

Calloway wanted to play RB, he wasn't going to be able to do that at Bama. The FSU kid seemed like he was upset because Saban didn't recruit him harder.

It seems like that FSU kid has a slightly over inflated ego. I imagine he used to being the best football player around. The idea that Saban himself would need to do more isn't really the issue. I think Saban pushes the buttons he wants to push and if he rubs a kid the wrong way then he figures the kid wouldn't have made it in his program anyway because....you know.....Saban would still be the one pushing his buttons, and he aint going to change now.

I'm not the biggest Saban fan in the world but I respect the hell out of the guys dedication to his process. It's why he recruits well and why he's good at building a program.

It's a well known story around here (I live 10 minutes away from Calloway's school) about how he got upset and threatened to quit the team when a kid from Pennsylvania moved to Russellville and wanted to play Calloway's position. He's a drama queen. Trust me when I say we're better off without him.

Speaking of over inflated egos... We had the displeasure of being on the same flight as Cullman's Spencer Region the other day to Orlando. That clown had half the plane thinking he was about to play in the Pro Bowl... and he'll be lucky to end up at Troy or UAB. If there had been an air marshal on the flight, I'm pretty sure he'd have shot him just for being annoying.

Why in heaven's name did a kid from Pennsylvania move to Russellville, Alabama... You know, I bet he's an Auburn target and Chizik is paying him to move closer, gah those Aubs... all they do is pay for play!! just kidding... but seriously, Pennsylvania to Russellville??

Who knows? I'm guessing there's plenty of reasons to make that move? lol All I know is the kid and his family moved here from Pennsylvania.

You know, one more thing, someone mentioned this earlier, just being really distraught that it seems like our recruits are continuously sought after and eventually captured by other programs even after committing to Bama, while we seem to never get a decommitted player and I think it all comes down to the fact that Saban (something he is known for) really tells it straight to recruits. Everyone says that Saban will sit down and tell the recruit exactly what he has to do to play and the pros and benefits of Bama rather than trashing other schools/ recruiting AGAINST others. Well I've come to think that is maybe why we lose recruits occasionally. People like Chizik and Les Miles and other rivals of ours probably just tell the recruits why they should not come to Alabama and other schools-- but obviously the question of which would we rather be known for? I'd rather have the label of classy recruiting.

At some point one would think a parent would step in. The worst thing that can happen to an all star athlete is to not have a sense of accountability. It's a sign of trouble.

Who is Region committed to these days? I heard LSU.

1) I disagree with the "both programs offer BCS Championships"... obviously Auburn does [this year] as long as $cam is there, but I'm sorry, I totally refuse to believe Cheezenip wins like he has this year ever again without Cam. and

He probably won't win exactly the same way but Chizik has already exceeded everyone's expectations and appears to be recruiting well. 2-3 years from now we should be right back in the thick of things. We'll have the talent level, we have the coaching, it'll be fun to see who and how many of these highly rated kids step up.

2) Auburn has a better track record of putting RBs in the league? Maybe over the past 50+ years, but come on?? Anyone with half a mind can tell that Bama will prove, over the next 10 or so years at least, to be the place to go if you're a star RB-- that's idiotic to think otherwise.

Track Record sort of implies the past. And not seeing everything through Crimson colored glasses is far from idiotic. Saban will get most of the running backs he wants, and many will succeed, but you probably won't have another Mark Ingram for a while. Meanwhile I see no reason to believe Auburn won't continue to send it's starters at running back to the NFL.

I will tell you this. From the first day that I saw we offered Calloway, I thought Calloway was soft and could not believe he was offered by Alabama. My son's team went and played Russellville, and we beat the snot out of them with far less talent. Look back at my posts regarding Calloway. He is OVERRATED! He was non-existent in a high school game. Our kids had to ask which one he was. I, for one, think this is a blessing in disguise. Rivals had him rated as #1 in the state. I have as much faith in Rivals as I do politicians. You can LOOK the part, but if you are not football "smart," Awbren has a spot for ya. I saw 15 high school players this year that can run circles around him. For one night, I several do just that. IMO, he was a wasted scholarship. Sure, he looks the part, but he is not what I think would be the answer to ANY of Alabama's problems on either side of the ball. Don't let the door hit you in the azz, son.

Don't want to bad mouth a 17 year old here.....But i've watched him play for three years now, since the commitment, and I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. Fine athlete, but when the defenses focused on him (particularly in playoff games), he wasn't productive. Against his schools' competition during the season, he was a bruiser. Take him out of NW Alabama, the level of play dropped off substantially. Injuries seemed to be a problem.

Good luck to him at Auburn.

hold your horses cuz. i think your forgetting about the 30+ Scholly reduction, 5 yrs probation, bowl ban & TV ban that y'all are gonna get before next season gets here. So i'm guessing it won't be 2-3 years for y'all there Chief. more like 15-20. Which is about how much time the AU boosters (McGregor, Rane, & Lowder) will spend in prison of federal charges. So i don't think y'all are gona be doing much recruiting for a very long while, unless you count the AU Sheep Shearing team.
And then there the * to deal with wich will result in forfiture of the entire 2010 season including the title game, and $Cam getting he Hiesman striped.
