It was very good to see Julio with the big catch early in the game. With the stiff arm and several broken tackles...it looked like one of his high scholl highlite reels. It really showed his strength and speed. I dont know of another receiver in college ball that has demonstrated that kind of running ability ( stiff arming and breaking arm tackles )this year. While he has great hands...IMO he really shines after the catch.

Yeah, I loved how far he went after the catch and attempted tackles. We won't be keeping him after his junior year, sorry folks. :( He looks like he's been in college for a while.

Thought he should have been getting more chances yeasterday.......We threw to him several times in the first(quarter) half but got away from him even though they continued with man coverage against him.

I think Saban agrees after listening to the post game PC.

It's kind of surprising in my eyes. McElwain's style, or at least he said it was, was to give the ball to the playmaker. If it's not established in his mind that Julio is one of those guys, surely the 40 yard 'get the hell off me' catch would of rang some kind of bell.

Leave it to us to find something wrong with being undefeated, but hell...that's what we're here for.

I hope they start throwing it to him more often, it looks like a common theme in every game, we thow him a few passes to start off then we barely throw it to him the rest of the game. I know teams have been pressing him at the line the past couple of games but we need to get the ball in his hands. Same thing with Maze, that was his first TD all year. I know we run the ball well but we have good skill players outside of running back. IMO we need to mix it up more often. We're still 7-0 and haven't played our best football yet so that's reason to be excited about the rest of the season. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!

The one thing that is slightly difficult for #8 is the hit right at the line of scrimmage after the snap. The DB's are popping him right up front, and he seems to not quite recover to make the timing plays work.

If DB's hit him at the LOS after the snap, this also throws off some of what JPW is trying to do, which means he must look off Jones to find another receiver. Remember, we have a rhythym passer who thrives on a scripted play that requires no ad hoc changes. When our receivers get challenged at the snap, this changes our plans.

How to deal with it? Have the receivers knock the living hell out of the DB, then take some sharp slant routes for JP to hit them in stride. 6 points my friends...

Me too. Looked like he was having his way with that db early on. But then again, JPW, started to get more pressure on him as the game progressed.

JJ was cleverly disquised, too. Vern Dumbquist and Gary Dunce-and-some couldn't even spot him on the field. Geeeesh!!!!!!

The other #8 on Bama's sideline was an effective diversionary tactic.

I think he will be one of our best of all time. I know its early in his career but man he looks like a natural.

Is there a correlation between not going to Julio and the TE Nick Walker position having a big day? I don't recall the two of them having big days on the same day.

I don't get it either. We found a weak spot 1st half and then let it be in 2nd half. I've only watched 1st half replay, so maybe Ole Miss changed their coverage in 2nd half. Just from being at the game I have NO clue why we didn't attack their secondary again. JPW was pressured but not every time.

There was also several times when play action was set up and it was not used. MI off left side=5 yd gain, MI off left side=6 yd gain....MI off left side= no gain

And correct on Julio being man covered and not thrown to enough. We are just not taking advantages of opportunities to take control of some games. I still chalk this up to youth.
Coach McElwains has still had a positive effect on JPW, it can only get better with people who will see years under him. imo.

Julio looks alot like T.O. He's just so thick and fast. I got awfully excited about him stiif arming that guy and then dragging another 15 yards. We need to get him the ball more throughout the game.

That might be true but he is still the teams leading receiver in terms of catches. Ahead of even Nick Walker.

I laughed for nearly ten minutes at that one!

And it was so true. :D

I was watching it on tv and still couldn't figure it out. We should of been lighting them up in the air, but I guess we can't get a valid answer. It seems like Coach Saban was just as befuddled as us.
