🏈 Brent Pease would be a great hire

I'm glad it worked out they way it did too, but with the talent Bama has (and with Saban's parameters), I have to think Pease would have done much better with this Tide team than he has with UF. UF reminds me a lot of our roster under Shula right now... not much talent, apparently not much depth, and zero development...

Very good point. I really thought Florida had recruited better than they apparently have. It's weird seeing the Gators look a lot like they did before Spurrier arrived. Pell had teams that looked better.

That mirrors my thought seeing this thread again.

The first thing that came to mind is how Kines reputation took such a hit around SEC circles based on his time as DC in Athens. Yet, the little success had when Shula was here is LARGELY due to the defense Kines coordinated.

A lot of the UGA faithful forget it was Joe Kines that bailed the UGA defense out against Purdue and Drew Brees in the 1999 Outback Bowl. Kevin Ramsey had turned what should have been one of the best defenses in the country into one of the worst in the SEC. Donnan gave the reins of the defense back to Kines during that game and Joe's notorious scheme of dropping 7 to 9 players into secondary coverage actually worked well enough to slow Brees down and UGA scored the win. Georgia is where good defensive coordinators go to screw up the rest of their career.
