šŸˆ Breakout player of the year -2015 (last year's thread)

So, how many of you guys think about Rueben Foster when it comes to passes defended this season?

Anyone want to venture a guess on the top five?

I'll admit I don't think of RF when it comes to passes defended. That probably means he's #1 on the list.

Just pulling from my (bad) memory I'd say the top five are:

1. Minkah Fitzpatrick
2. Marlon Humphrey
3. Eddie Jackson
4. Cyrus Jones
5. Reuben Foster

If we are talking about "passes defensed" and not "pass breakups" then Minkah has the most. Reuben and Minkah are tied for the most pass breakups. He has been soooooo much better in pass coverage this year, but he has also knocked a few balls down while rushing the passer.

And that would be spot on according to what I've been "tracking." (I tend to not trust rolltide.com for these things ... too many errors of late.)

I'm going to pick this up in a minute ...

Passes defended, asshole. That's the reason I put "passes defended." :bird:

Now, I'm glad you brought pass breakups into the conversation though.

With the "breakout player" and linebacking corps let's look at the unit for a second ...

With Ragland it's safe to say he's played up to expectations. You can say the same about the rest of the linebackers ... a few asterisks for outstanding games from a select few (Dillon Lee recently.)

BUT, when we look at Reuben and see what he's done in the passing defense situations? He's right there at the top with breakups and defended passes.

Think about it ... that area of the field was a concern. It's been pretty well answered, to date.

As many scenario's as I ran through my mind before the season started ... as many as we all did here ... RF playing this way in passing situations wasn't one of my thoughts/dreams/ ... anything.

I whiffed on the offensive side with Kenyan Drake pressing too much and then, just as he seems to be rounding into shape. BAM!! Another injury.

I seem to be pretty spot on with Reuben Foster on the defensive side. He has been ultra solid. He is second on the team in tackles, 1 sack, 5 tfl's, 7pbu's.

Now I'm in search for a new Bama favorite player. Now that my in in the NFL
