🏈 Breaking: Texas to name Louisville's Charlie Strong as next HC

I'll wait and see who Texas brings in to replace Suddes with before I throw stones. I can't fault CCS for wanting to hire his own people. If I'm Texas, I'd be more concerned that he doesn't backfill this position...

Whether or not Suddes is any good is totally irrelevant. For all we know, he may not have bought into the new regime. So, to criticize a new Head Coach for shedding some staff, good or bad, especially when a total overhaul is being asked for, well that's just plain naive and hypercritical.

It's not often I'm left speechless, much less dumbfounded.

It's irrelevant if he's any good?

He may have not bought into the new regime yet he embodies the very reason there is a new regime?

And I'm naive?

Damn OT...just damn. SMH, again.

Anyway. It truly is irrelevant how good or bad Suddes is. A new coach has a right to bring in his own staff. This isn't Mack Brown's program anymore. The decision to axe Suddes might not even have to do with his past performance. Who knows? Maybe, Strong and Suddes had an interview and Suddes was found out to be a closet racist? I mean, if that is the case no matter how good a person is, he needs to be shown the door.

I dont know if Charlie Strong will do well in Texas or not, I like his coaching and IMO he deserves better than what the Texas boosters have said and retracted, its a kick to the face.:shake:

The only thing that would concern me about that hire if I were a steer fan would be the fact that he takes on players like Michael Dyer on his team. I'm sorry but that was a gamble that had a huge downside and it was indeed a gamble. He may not have to be so footloose in Texas amongst all that talent but stupid gambles are well, stupid!

Yeah it was, but he sure did a decent job at UL.

37-15 over four years (.712) is pretty strong.

Against teams that were .500 or better on their seasons Louisville was 15-10. When you start looking at how they did against teams whose win total was 10 or more on the season now we're looking at a 'Ville team that's 3-2.

When Petrino took the Arkansas job and a lot were pointing to his days in 'Ville as a reason he'd have Arkansas at the top of the SEC I cautioned against that notion. When he was coaching the better teams he wasn't as successful as he was made out to be. Now we see he couldn't win when it counted in SEC play.

Does the same apply to Strong at TX?
