Alabama loses arguably the best linebacker in the country last season (Ragland) as well as its two starting outside linebackers (Devall and Lee). Yet, the Tide's linebacker group looks even better on paper than it did heading into last season, especially at outside linebacker.

Anderson and Williams both decided to bypass the NFL draft and return to school, so the Tide has two likely early-round 2017 draft picks at outside linebacker in addition to junior Rashaan Evans, who had three tackles and two sacks in the national championship game, and promising young players such as redshirt sophomore Christian Miller.

At inside linebacker, Foster, like Anderson and Williams, decided to stay in school rather than enter the NFL draft and is widely projected to be an early-round pick next year.

Next to Foster will be Hamilton, a physical, intelligent former top recruit who made five starts and 27 tackles last season.

The Tide will also have several talented young players competing for time at inside linebacker, including redshirt sophomore Keith Holcombe, Davis and redshirt freshmen Joshua McMillon and Adonis Thomas.
