🏈 Braxton Miller to Bama?

Per Aaron Suttles, Tidesports.com:

This is something I've been tracking since December/January, when the rumor first surfaced to me from multiple sources. Does that mean that Braxton Miller is coming to UA? No. But there is a chance it could happen.

There are many layers to this story, including Miller's health (can his shoulder hold up?), the dynamic of six quarterbacks on a team (which there would be if he transfers in).

What's interesting to me is looking at how many players Alabama took in this last recruiting class. That was done for a reason.

Again, I'm not saying that Miller is coming to UA. In fact, given all the hoopla surrounding this now, odds are he probably won't. I do wonder what Finebaum's motivation was for releasing this rumor, though. There's a reason I haven't discussed it. Because it's a rumor. Peddling rumors is a dangerous business, but I guess there's an avenue for that in talk radio.

Meh, ArDarius is sharing a link, how does that equate to expressing an opinion? Reading in to that one in my opinion.

With Miller graduating last year, he'd have been better off going through spring ball with another school.

Let me ask you guys this, would you be ok getting Braxton to keep him from an SEC school? There are several in need of a QB.

I'd be okay with him going to UK or Vandy. :D

You know as well as I do that he is doing more than just sharing a link. Either a) he is subtly (or not so subtly) saying this is a done deal or b) this is what he WANTS to happen.

And he didn't graduate last year, he graduates in May which is why he couldnt transfer out and play spring ball with anyone.

Well it's his opinion, so what does it matter if he expresses it? He's not calling anyone out verbally.

I would imagine it matters to a guy named Nick Saban... and a couple of guys named Jake Coker, Blake Barnett, David Cornwell, etc...

It's my understanding Miller graduated in December, he enrolled in classes in the Spring for his post graduate degree.

I can assume what ArDarius is suggesting. I don't follow him or any other players on any social media, so I can't speak to what he shares on a regular basis.

I agree it meant more than just posting a link. Coach has more to deal with than this kind of stuff, so I doubt he blinked an eye. The guy wants to win and maybe he thinks he can win more with Braxton Miller, who knows.

While out jogging on my lunch break, heard on the radio that Jalston Fowler was quoted saying that Miller has made several trips to T-town over the past couple of years. Apparently Miller and Depreist (from Ohio) have been friends since they were very young.

Doesn't mean anything, but I still find it interesting.

I'm like several others on here. I would like it if we developed our younger guys and just sank or swam with them.

They are really good friends and I was told they were together at A-Day.

I don't have any inside info on this situation, but I think it's very unlikely that Braxton Miller will transfer to Alabama.

It's been an interesting story to watch.

When it was first posted (on a message forum dedicated to Alabama) that he was in rehab and mentioning he was considering transferring the member that posted that info was taken to task: a lot would use the word flamed. Now here we are today reading (as one example) the link @psychojoe posted where we see, "DePriest, when reached by phone by AL.com's Matt Zenitz, elaborated on Miller's situation. Miller's shoulder surgery was done by Dr. James Andrews, a Birmingham-based doctor. The surgery required follow-up trips to Birmingham for Miller, so the Ohio State quarterback would reach out to DePriest in Tuscaloosa, considering his proximity to campus."

Now, no one is reported Miller started these rumors/stories.

Some are saying it's a done deal; well, one particular click of Bama fans on a forum. I still look skeptically at anything coming from that group largely due to involvement in Travis Carroll's car deal.

That said, saying it's a 50/50 situation is about as accurate of a statement as can be made. We've got room.

My question is, "What would be in it for Braxton". If he is transferring then he is wanting to be a starting quarterback next year. The staff has never turned the reigns over to a quarterback without him showing that he is the best candidate. At best, we can offer a competition, but he would have just a couple of months to leapfrog everybody.

Let's assume he transfers and doesn't start.

He's entering the draft after doing well in Urban Meyer's system, and having spent a year in Nick Saban's system.

Your a GM on a team looking at drafting a QB. How does he look?
