As of now, you still should not expect to see former Alabama football offensive lineman
Brandon Kennedy playing for a different SEC team next season. Kennedy, who desires to join Auburn or Tennessee as a graduate transfer for the 2018 season, had his initial appeal denied by Alabama on Monday, per a report from
AL.com. The redshirt sophomore would have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school, but he is currently barred from communicating with any schools within the conference in addition to any future Crimson Tide opponents.
Kennedy made the decision to transfer in May after serving as the backup center in 2017. The former 247Sports Composite four-star recruit in the class of 2015 sustained a season-ending injury last season, and he was allowed to take a medical redshirt. Kennedy would have likely been second on the depth chart again for the upcoming season, as
Ross Pierschbacher is expected to be the starting center.
Currently, SEC graduate transfers are required to receive a waiver from the conference in order to transfer to another school within the SEC. If that doesn't happen, the player's school still has the ability to block a transfer from moving to programs of its choosing. Alabama coach
Nick Saban weighed in on the dilemma during his appearance at the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am in Birmingham, Ala.
