🏈 Brandon Kennedy to transfer (Alabama blocking certain schools.)

Why in the world would Kennedy insist on the 2 places that should get his own blood boiling?
Nowadays, players and fans perspectives on that are drastically different, even for the home grown players. They make lots of friends and connections through camps and the recruiting process. It's competitive but friendly. Short of a couple players crying or upset, just look at the end of any IB or TSiO, players from both teams will be hugging, joking and smiling with each other (tony brown excluded) while fans of the losing team break their TVs and kick their dogs.

Wasn't he originally committed to Auburn? Maybe that was someone else..
I don't recall that he was. He was the #1 center in the class, and I know he visited a lot of teams, to include multiple visits to Auburn.

As of now, you still should not expect to see former Alabama football offensive lineman Brandon Kennedy playing for a different SEC team next season. Kennedy, who desires to join Auburn or Tennessee as a graduate transfer for the 2018 season, had his initial appeal denied by Alabama on Monday, per a report from AL.com. The redshirt sophomore would have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school, but he is currently barred from communicating with any schools within the conference in addition to any future Crimson Tide opponents.

Kennedy made the decision to transfer in May after serving as the backup center in 2017. The former 247Sports Composite four-star recruit in the class of 2015 sustained a season-ending injury last season, and he was allowed to take a medical redshirt. Kennedy would have likely been second on the depth chart again for the upcoming season, as Ross Pierschbacher is expected to be the starting center.

Currently, SEC graduate transfers are required to receive a waiver from the conference in order to transfer to another school within the SEC. If that doesn't happen, the player's school still has the ability to block a transfer from moving to programs of its choosing. Alabama coach Nick Saban weighed in on the dilemma during his appearance at the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am in Birmingham, Ala.

Kennedy should be allowed to go to any school he wants. Grad transfers should not be at the mercy of the schools, period.

He earned his degree and graduated (in three years, by the way). He should be free to choose his next school.

Give student-athletes more incentive to really push for that degree and emphasize the student part of it.

No it's not.

The last two years we've seen a lot of OU's success come from the fact Mayfield knew the playbooks of their opponents. Why? Those schools didn't oppose his transfer.

How would you feel if Kennedy is sitting on the sidelines calling all of Bama's plays when they play Auburn, or Tennessee. You think that's fair? Oh hell no!

He's already working on his Masters. The rule reads you can transfer IF the school you are attending doesn't offer the class you want. That leads us to believe you think rules don't apply to all--let's just selectively enforce them.

I would feel fine. Thanks

I'm calling bullshit. No damn way you feel that way with a Bama loss. No freakin' way.

Could see a repeat of Saban vs the useless yankee Sankey. The kid should be able to go anywhere he wants as long as we don't play them this season AND NO SEC TEAM. You either have a rule or you don't.
You either have the rule or you don't. Thank you.

If the SEC overrules this, then the SEC should just get rid of the rule altogether. They are putting coaches and Universities in a bad spot.

This is the part that drives me nuts. If there was a certain criterion that allows the player to transfer within the SEC, so be it. In truth, the transfer rule is so subjective that it will always make us look arbitrary and vindictive. The only reason I can think of that keeps the commish from putting something in stone is that they don't want the heat.

If you are going to have a rule, enforce the damn thing!!! If you aren't going to enforce it, take it off the books and allow for "free agency".

I look at it like the whole gun debate issue. One side says, "we need more laws!" While the other side says, "just enforce the ones already on the books!"

@TerryP and others, don't you think that this all can sort of be dated back to the Jeremiah Masoli/Ole Piss transfer? He was a grad transfer, granted he had some extra baggage, but the SEC and Slive did sort of push back for awhile before caving in. I think the precedent was set then.

Of course it does. That's when the first rule was put in place and since then it's been changing--or willfully ignored in one case.

I'm coming of the opinion "if you don't like the rule, change it. Otherwise, shut the 'eff up. Until then, a rule is a rule."

You can call bullshit, your brother, or your momma.... Phone all the friends you'd like... The end result is that I don't give a damn where Brandon Kennedy goes.

He's a college graduate and did his part as a student athlete at Alabama. Hell I'm sure a coach or two that recruited him to Alabama is at either Auburn or UT making a living as well. Doesn't bother me at all. If they beat us and it's because of BRANDON KENNEDY you can blame our staff for not keeping such a difference maker happy at Alabama....

How the F do you keep someone happy when they're not the starter in today's youth? Go ahead and right it down and send to Nick.
