I'm waiting on the collage to start doing this.
they already do.
our jerseys, along with many, many others, have the nike swoosh on them. auburn and many others have the under armor logo on theirs. and there are some with the adidas logo (miss. st, michigan, louisville, miami).
now, with that said, most of the time those athletic companies aren't exactly sponsors. in nike's case, they definitely are a sponsor for oregon since the owner graduated from oregon and basically gives them anything they want or need in that regard. and 2 of our biggest sponsors are golden flake and coca-cola. but i don't think we'll start seeing those logos on our jerseys any time soon. colleges are a bit of a different animal, especially football, than are professional sports teams. but basically it comes down to "what does the school want?" and so long as the school is writing that check, they'll get exactly what they want or go somewhere else. obviously it's that way in the pros, too. but when you have a tradition of your uniforms not changing, or hardly changing at all, over the course of several decades or longer, then it's difficult for anything new to happen unless the school wants it to happen.
pro team owners are always looking for a way to make more money as easy as possible. and putting a sponsor's logo on a jersey is an insanely easy way to do that. and while most pro teams are owned by billionaires, most college teams rely on admission/tuition from students, ticket sales, concessions, merchandise sales, etc. to generate revenue as they're not wholly owned by billionaires. and in the case of some schools like Alabama, the fan base can almost dictate what happens and what doesn't. not 100%, but it's up there in terms of percentage. also, in our case, the football program basically helps support the school as it is a self-sustaining department due to the large number of booster donations, ticket sales, merchandise sales, etc. and we all know that winning takes care of that.
also, bowl game jerseys usually have a patch sewn on with the bowl game logo (basically the same one as is painted on the middle of the field). granted that's a special and unique situation since they are under contract to do that, but it's still there.
but i've droned on enough and i'll stop boring you now

.
oh, and just so you know, i wasn't bashing you in any way,
