🏈 Bo Scarbrough

Look at how hard Kelly went down on the Miracle on 3rd and 1 street.

But statistics show we can come from behind running the ball.
I'd like to see those.

Consider Ole Miss for a second ... down by 14 with 10 or so left in the third. Down by 17 mid way through the 3rd ...down by 20 in the closing minutes of the third ... and there's stats showing (any) teams come back running the ball?

Against that type of defenses? Either, for that matter?

Our backs yards per carry is right on par with our quarterbacks yards per attempt for most of what I've seen, therefor we run the ball as effectively as we throw the ball. Not to mention with our interception issues, I feel throwing the ball leaves us more vulnerable. Ole Miss was visibly worn out in the second half. Why would you not continue to pound Henry who thrives in the second half? He wants the ball in these situations. Alabama under Saban has had the mantra, "make them quit", and the whole "fourth quarter program", so why are we abandoning that under Kiffin? Coker is averaging just over five yards an attempt, that's not stretching the field or scoring in a hurry. We keep pounding and pounding and we can continue to wear down their rush, keep Coker from running for his life, and then complete a pass. Other than that we have a back no one wants to tackle, especially at the second and third level when he gets going.

As far as time of possession, in quarters one, two and four we had it about 9.5 minutes to their 5.5. In the third quarter they had it 8.5 minutes to 6.5 minutes.
Yep, doesn't take long to score when you get the ball giftwrapped and handed to you in or near the redzone. V/s having to mount long scoring drives.

Alabama RB cleared after injury, suspension; could have 'huge role' - CBSSports.com

Alabama freshman running back Bo Scarbrough has finally been cleared to make his college debut after serving a four-game suspension for an NCAA issue.

Scarbrough, the No. 2 athlete and No. 16 overall player in the Class of 2014 by the 247Sports Composite, committed to the Crimson Tide in February 2014 but did not have an opportunity to play in the fall because of academic issues.

Matters got worse for Scarbrough in 2015 with a knee injury in spring practice and this four-game suspension for an NCAA issue that Nick Saban said was related to amateurism.

On Monday, Nick Saban indicated that it may only be a matter of time before Scarbrough's number is called.

"He's been practicing, he's been cleared medically and his suspension is over," Saban said, via AL.com. "We're going to work hard to try to create a role for him. It may take some time to get him back in the groove of things, but that's certainly the plan."

According to comments from several Tide players, Scarbrough has looked good while playing with the scout team this season since recovering from the spring practice injury. Center Ryan Kelly even told AL.com that the freshman back could have a "huge" role.

"He could have a huge role," Kelly said. "Injuries always happen, so to have him back there, it really showed what he could do. It's huge just to give other guys a break as well. He's another asset that we have. We have a lot of assets. We just have to put it all to use."

Alabama has hit a crucial point in its schedule; one that will make or break the Tide's season after starting 0-1 in SEC play. First up is a trip to Georgia on Saturday for the SEC Game of the Week, then Arkansas, Texas A&M (in College Station) and Tennessee before the pre-LSU bye week. If Scarbrough is going to have a huge role in 2015, now would be a great time to hit the ground running and provide even more depth and versatility to the Alabama offense.

Good lord he's huge. If he can stay healthy he's going to be a badass mo fo. I hope to the highest person he gets utilized this weekend, and can stay healthy for his long term sake.

It will be Bo's first game. Let's remember that before we get all hyped up over the impact he will have in the game. His impact will more than likely be minimal. I doubt he's in playing shape.

And it could be like Herschel Walker's first game. Vince Dooley had no intention of playing him. Was probably going to red-shirt him. Got down 0-15 and said, "WTH, why not?".

Maybe so, I would love for that to be the case. But I'm not going to expect it. Because that is putting a lot of expectations on a freshman who's not played one college down and has yet to be hit in a live game carrying the ball.
