Getting a QB off of his spot is the key. Give him "happy" feet where he must move at the defenses' liking in the pocket. Get the QB looking more at the rush and less at his receivers downfield. Young QBs have more of an issue with this than older ones. Big trust issue with your line. Sacks look great in the stats, but I'll take a QB slinging it out of bounds, over thrown balls, and INTs any day. You can bet Saban was looking at the pressure OU was getting on AJ and thinking, "we haven't gotten enough of that this year!"

I am in agreement that our mentality is for our interior linemen to eat up an offensive lineman and simply make a pile in the middle, while attempting to contain a quarterback with our ends. Manziel was a special exception, and one to the likes no one has ever seen before, hence winning the Heisman as a Freshman and being the first to do it. He was too cocky and arrogant for me, but damn if he wasn't exciting. You're simply going to come across a guy like that every so often, but not very often. I think with Hand coming in and Allen and Robinson set up for big Sophmore campaigns we have a great opportunity to disrupt some quarterbacks and the speed to chase them sideline to sideline. DePriest is a stud like Mosley and will offer great speed and athleticism to go with those linemen. Our defense is shaping up to look good from my prospective.

DePriest is a very good player, but I think he lacks the closing speed of Mosley.

We are going to be very good on defense, despite departures.
