You may not like me 90% of the time but I have to say that it is a breath of fresh air to see an older person not being completely and utterly ignorant. I applaud you.

90% of the time seems harsh. It's not always your gift of gab, sometimes it's the bow you wrap it with.

Yea @BamaBoyJosh ...us older people are ignorant MFs....
Just because we grew up in a different era....with different values...and mores....
Geeze....give me abreak...where life wasnt about political correctness...and was about respect even if u didnt agree....

Okay, first off, I didn't say you were ignorant and I didn't say all older people were. Just the majority of the ones I have had the displeasure of dealing with throughout my life. And honestly, the political correctness and "respect" doesn't kinda went out the window when the guy who is in office got elected. Can't have it both ways.

For what it is worth, I am a veteran from the late 60’s. I believe we need to have different opinions and each of us needs to vigorously defend them. We get in trouble when we attempt to deny someone the right to have a different opinion. On this forum I enjoy the impassioned defense of differing opinions.

I’m a little late to the party with the whole patriotism, kneeling, etc, but after reading this thread I wanted to comment.

As for the unarmed African Americans are more likely to die at the hands of cops (cops get off) is absolutely not true in the aspect of “cops kill unarmed black people and get away with murder” that seems to be the narrative of a lot of people. We are trained from academy on that we meet violence with whatever violence it takes to stop the threat. If OC spray and taser are ineffective what should the next step be? Hug them? Beg? Buy them presents? Obviously there have been cases of murder, but those are very few and far between, one is too many. I’m the first to say if a shoot is a bad shoot, but not all unarmed are innocent in their deaths regardless of race.

The issue with Kap and the “social injustice” shit is it’s only that if it’s cops killing African Americans, but Kap, liberals, etc don’t bat a damn eye at all the black lives ruined by other blacks like in Chicago. Their cause loses credibility with me when they only care black lives when their death is at the hand of a cop even if it’s justified, but they don’t give a shit about the 3 yr old that gets gunned down on her front porch in Chicago.

As for the kneeling I’m fine with it. Many many people got their hands dirty in foreign countries for their right to protest freely. I’ve seen many many people stand around bullshitting, laughing, etc while the anthem is played, but oh shit the first athlete to do it and people lose their damn minds!!

With you on this...
And i dont care whether they kneel either...or dont remove their hats...or laugh and talk during the anthem.... or trash the POTUS... shows they were not taught respect..reflects on them ....and their upbringing..
But...its also the right of others...to express their opinion in regards to them...
You know its like..."o they have a right to do it"...ok....then "its ok to express an opinion of what a douch bag they are for doing it..and havethe right to not support them by writing the advertisers or not buying the tickets or turning the tv off..
Its our rights also.. so have it... of course I am just an ignorant MF according to some...and so be that...us older people...what do we know...

I agree with you 50+. But who among us is not ignorant ? It seems to me , those who speak the most and loudest show the most ignorance. Older people have experienced more of life, know more about the way of the world, the ways of people, have been around the block more than younger people. Don't get me wrong, there are some really intelligent , smart and wise younger people who have caring parents that teach them at home to love, to be honest, honor and respect for others and the true value of a good education.
