🏈 Big Labor day game.

I'm kinda mixed... I want VaTech to crush BSU so they will drop big time in the polls and go away (their schedule is a joke and they are almost guaranteed a BCS bowl). on the other hand I want BSU to win to help force a playoff.

Agreed. Although, I'd rather see VT hand them their arse. So sick of hearing the Bronco BS.

Go Hokies!!! In a big way! I don't mind the upstart schools getting their due - it's good for the game - but Boise State is getting too much. What about our friends at Utah? They are out there winning games too, but they don't get the hype.

Boise State has a few signature wins the last few years, but their model skews perception on their relative level among other schools in power conferences. Here's what I mean; their signature wins have almost entirely come either in bowl games or in the first game of the year. In those scenarios, they have months to come up with a boal-load of trick plays and gimmicks to unload on the opponent and when they win, the pull it off by the skin of their teeth as a result of gimmicks. Then the rest of their regular season is a pathetic joke. How about scheduling two ranked teams in a row? How about doing it in the middle of the season?

This game - Virginia Tech - is just another example. If they beat the Hokies, they are just about guaranteed an undefeated season (Oregon State didn't look too sharp this weekend) because their competition is so incredibly weak. Then we will all hear the whining about how they deserve to play for a National Championship. Either way, they will get a BCS game and another month to prepare a bunch of trick plays and gimmicks and maybe pull of another upset over a real school that has been getting pounded all year long in a real conference.

Not impressed with Boise State and what it takes for them to win. Not impressed with the "meat" of their schedule which is how they pile up wins.

A play-off would expose them, but I'm torn on that as I also enjoy the tradition of bowl season. But that's for another post...

^^ yup, but I want a playoff of at least 8 teams, prefer 16 teams. I don't have the old way of thinking baggage ;)

with a playoff, we would have been in contention in 2008 after losing to Florida in the SEC championship game.

Personally, I'd prefer Alabama to start winning NCAA Championships in football. The current setup for major CFB's "championship" is pure garbage.

With a 16-team playoff, Alabama would have had a shot at a NCAA Championship in 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1999, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012....not to mention many, many years previous to 1989 & I might have missed one or two between then & now.

Also, I highly doubt they would CHOOSE to get rid of the bowls just because there is a playoff. Why would they just throw all that money away??

So, PLEASE, Broncos....go undefeated & get left out again!

It's not because of them not being around to win championships, it's because they play virtually a one game season. I mean, we go through the SEC and play ranked team after ranked team and they play VT and a bunch of nobodies and they deserve to be in? Maybe in a playoff. With that said, the sport needs to go to a playoff system.
