šŸ€ Big 10’s way overrated this season ... right?

Any team can have a bad game at any point in time. Yes, the big 10 got beat but so did many other higher seeded teams. Bad shooting, poor rebounding, injury, foul trouble, turnovers and a host of reasons come into play during this time. Sometimes, a team just gets hot and wins. I think most of us was just a little concerned on Sat. when Bama was struggling with Iona. Hopefully, the Tide can get everything firing on all 8 and advance. I am worried about Petty. He is really struggling and forcing the game. RTR!

Offensively yes but in the past it would have effected the rest of his game. To his credit he has not let that happen. Going forward there will be some games we will need one of his explosive scoring games but he was not the only one that did not score up to their average on Saturday. Need Shackleford, Quinerly and at Petty all three to elevate their offensive games. I think you are already getting the max offense you are going to get from Jones. Maybe we can get Primo back and Ellis or Bruner to pick it up. The nice thing about this team is that with their depth we have multiple options to help with the scoring so not just one person has to do it.

Even with that said surprisingly the team was only 12 points (4 3 pointers) from hitting the 80 point mark. The team only shot 16 3 pointers as I recall on Saturday and hit 5 of those. Iona was a good perimeter defensive team. Another way they could have made those 12 points up was to have done a better job at the line. I think they were something like 13-23 from the line. That should be much improved even if the 3 point shots are still lagging. Shooting the average at the line would have at least put us in the 70's and a wider margin.

Oh and we also for the most part played Iona's game which was a half court game and still won by double digits. This team can win multiple ways but are certainly at their best when they are playing fast and pushing the ball.

I say all of this to say maybe we are not as far away as it seems.
