Betting expert gives line for Alabama vs. Cleveland Browns

Let's imagine for a second that these teams played on a neutral field. At many positions, Alabama's arguably more talented than the Browns, but you'd expect freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts, who's only 20 years old, to struggle against an NFL secondary and pass rush.

I'm not sure the Browns could score 27 points to cover considering they have the league's 30th-ranked scoring offense at just 17.4 points per game. Depth would be an issue for the Crimson Tide, but a non-offensive score would likely be enough to win with Alabama +27.

And don't worry — as long as Alabama keeps winning and the Browns fall deeper into oblivion, it's a question that'll keep coming up each and every week.

No offense, but this sort of thing comes up from time to time and it is utterly ridiculous every single time! There is no way a college team can stay on the field with a pro team with regards to football. I don't care how poorly the NFL team is playing, they would lay waste to a college team......period

But how do you know? A lot of people say it would be 100-0, but is there honestly that much of a difference in a team like the Browns and a team like Alabama that will put 19-22 players into the NFL on the current roster. It's more of a question rather than me challenging your prospective. Our defense consists of a lot of guys leaving for the draft that will be thrown onto teams like the Browns and asked to play in less than a year. With that being said, our offense would have trouble with a Freshman quarterback, I'll admit that. I obviously don't think we'd win, but when I hear people say we'd get run out of the stadium, I sometimes wonder what propels that line of thinking. I suspect it would be like the Browns vs the Patriots, with the Browns being the Patriots in this instance, outmatched with a clear talent gap, but still worth trotting on the field. I also know we're not like a Cal, Texas, Pitt, or a Penn State type team where we have one superstar player we rely on, but our defense has a good bit of guys to spread the responsibilities around to. Like I said, just an observation and more curiosity than anything, but it's something we will never ever be able to see on the field, so it'll always remain up for conversation.

Yes, I think there is that much difference between any NFL team and the best college team on the field. Sure, we will put several of our players into the NFL but you are talking about a team that consists 100% of NFL caliber players. Their offensive line has one rookie, one 4 year player, one 10 year player, and two 9 year players. That is a lot of NFL experience at work against college guys. Same for the defense, a unit comprised of NFL talent playing against college guys with some NFL talent. I am not knocking our team in any way, but a team full of NFL caliber players would be no match for a college team.

Am I dreaming this up? Or did many years ago, a championship college team played a pro team or a team of pro all stars? Maybe one year or a few years?
The Super Bowl Champ. would play and All-Stars team of College greats that were drafted. The last one was 1976 and it was stop because of a rain storms.

Some of the College ALL-STARS won this game too.

And I agree with you. I know you're not knocking our team and I never took it as that. I'm not one one those that ever thinks a college team coukd win, but I don't see a 100-0 game like most use as their example. I look at the Browns starting a Cody Kessler whom had moderate success at USC, a rookie receiver in Cory Coleman, a failed quarterback as a receiver, a running back in Crowell that showed signs in college and is young, along with a line with one superstar. i just don't believe they boat race us. A 45 point loss may be in order, but I don't see anything worse than that with a team with a Browns talent level and greeness. 0-16 is pretty bad, and they are looking that right in the face.

The problem with us playing them is the same as our upcoming game with chattanooga. The dline. Theirs is better than ours and our oline would struggle severely. Struggle to the point of punting before 4th down type of struggle. I don't believe they would score much before our d got tired (before eddie got injured). But the second half would be a massacre imo

I put this up for a laugh, because this isn't the first time Alabama was put up to face a NFL team. Remember Vince Lombardi said he hasn't played Coach Bryant 1966 team. I know someone here has it as a sign, but I just can't think who it is!
