🏈 Better team?

about curry and copeland.. their time with alabama was a historical event, but when arguing about their true talent level, i begin wonder.. neither did a thing in the NFL.. not saying our guys would either, but i have really high expectations for dareus at the next level.. he is a rare talent.. he reminds me of warren sapp and, that is a huge compliment..

They were 240 pound guys who benchpressed 300 pounds, squatted 400, and ran 4.9 in the 40. Very good in 1993, but not today.

Something I have thought about in relation to this thread, is the question "how would the 1992 defense fare against the offenses of 2009?" The 1992 defense went up against really vanilla offensive systems. There were no true spread attacks in 1992...you would see the occasional spread formation, but that was it. Offensive football is lightyears beyond what it was 17 years ago. We are better at 9 out of 11 positions this season and this year's team would win the head to head by 30+.

On a side note...

As I have said, the Paul Johnson option offense can be stopped by a disciplined defense or a team that has time to prepare for it. Iowa was solid but not great. UGA was one of the worst defenses in the SEC. At Alabama, Johnson's offense would be a disaster. The way teams prepare to play us, they would be ready for it. It is much easier to defend than what we run now.

Johnson is lucky in that he moved to Tech at the right time. The ACC is way down right now. Clemson vs SC and UGA vs GT (#1 and #2 ACC v/s 3/4 in the SEC East) proved that point.

Curry was listed when drafted as 6'6" and 268.

I didn't take the time to look up Copeland, but he was somewhere around that as well. You just make up how much they could bench as well?
