It's recruiting, gotta expect the unexpected at times. Can't be right about everything, I usually try to read between the lines. I have a buddy who is in the locker room with the team a lot and knows all the players. He was adamant the players and coaches felt confident going into this but that's part of the game. We don't know how much AJ was leveraging his relationships with us for more $$. Things can change in an instant, look at Cunningham's recruitment in football.

I was very excited myself. Alabama reportedly picked up a ton of ground and our insiders were confident. Then you saw Branham remove a his prediction to BYU days prior. There was reason for excitement. In the end, he probably just used us as leverage. I don't blame him. I blame this stupid ass system that allows donors to throw ludicrous money around.

One thing I don't doubt is Oats having a backup plan and being able to replace talent. He's still one of the best recruiters in the game. His roster management is something we should never doubt.

He signed the NIL deal with BYU weeks ago. He was obligated to tell Oats that he signed but he didn't.

If they had known I think they'd have some issues, but they didn't. If he was really signed with BYU already, like officially, then it was pretty shitty of BYU not to shut it down. Something doesn't really add up on the details that are leaking out, but it doesn't really matter at this point.

If we'd known, yea, we didn't. The details now in the public eye make me believe that's an infraction on BYU's part and perhaps the recruit. Not that anything will really be done about it considering the NCAA has been castrated recently with things like this.
