LEADING OFF
• Alabama and Georgia will meet for the 147th time in history when the two teams square off for the opener on Thursday night at Foley Field. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are dead even in the series at 72-72-2.
• The two teams met last season in Tuscaloosa from March 16-18 to start Southeastern Conference play. Alabama finished 1-2 across the weekend that featured three one-run games. The Crimson Tide took game one in extras thanks to a Joe Breaux walkoff single in the 13th inning to cross the game-winner and help Alabama claim the 10-9 win. Georgia rallied back for a pair of 6-5 wins in the final two pairings to clinch the series victory.
• Alabama calls on three right-handers for the series in Athens. Things will start with freshman Tyler Ras on the hill for Thursday night's opener followed by redshirt junior Brock Love in game two of the three-game set. The Crimson Tide will close things out with senior Sam Finnerty for the finale on Saturday.
• Georgia will also utilize three righties in the matchups with the Tide. First up is freshman Cole Wilcox on Thursday to open the series. Then, the Bulldogs will employ a pair of juniors, with Tony Locey on Friday followed by Emerson Hancock in Saturday's regular-season and series finale.

ABOUT ALABAMA
• Alabama heads to Athens after going 2-2 across the last four games. The Crimson Tide spent the entire week in Tuscaloosa, first for a series with 18th-ranked Texas A&M, winning the middle game of last weekend with the Aggies. All three games kept with the trend of close games in the Alabama-A&M series, with each contest being decided by one run. Most recently, the Tide completed the series sweep of Samford with a 4-2 win on Tuesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
• With the victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday, Alabama reached the 30-win plateau for the first time since 2016.
• UA fell in the series opener with Texas A&M by a score of 3-2 on Friday evening at The Joe. The scoring was kept at a minimum in game one. The Crimson Tide struck for one in the bottom of the first followed by A&M answering back with a two-spot in the second. Alabama knotted it up after the third but one unearned run in the Aggie fourth proved the difference, as the two teams went quiet the final five innings. The Tide had opportunities to tie things up, reaching a runner in four of the final five innings, but could not pull even.
• The Tide offense on Friday was led by the heart of the order with the 3-4-5 hitters combining for five hits. Three-hole hitter Morgan McCullough finished 3-for-4 to give the junior the team lead in hits. Sophomore Tyler Gentry tallied one hit and a walk to extend his hitting streak from the cleanup spot. Rounding out the group was No. 5 hitter, freshman Drew Williamson, who contributed UA's lone RBI as part of his 1-for-4 evening.
• A career-day by Brock Love, teamed with a pair of solo home runs helped UA to a 2-1 win over A&M on Saturday. The Crimson Tide received a strong pitching performance from the trio of Love, Casey Cobb and Jeremy Randolph in game two.
• Love was impressive in the start, setting new career-high marks for innings pitched (7.0), batters faced (26) and total pitches (106) on his way to the win. The redshirt junior allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out three before handing it over to the bullpen. Cobb followed, with the junior contributing 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Randolph was then able to secure the win with a two-pitch save, the graduate closer's ninth of the season.
• Alabama gained its two-run advantage thanks to solo home runs from a pair of freshmen. The first solo shot of the day came from T.J. Reeves in the bottom of the first. Reeves sent an 0-1 pitch over the scoreboard in left for his ninth homer of the season. The Tide's second roundtripper came from Tyler Ras in the fourth, as the designated hitter turned on one, sending a deep fly over the wall in left for the 2-0 lead.
• After falling behind early, Alabama fought its way back into the game but came up short of completing the comeback in Sunday's 6-5 loss to A&M. The Aggies built their lead in the first with five runs to put the Tide in an early hole.
• The Crimson Tide then began chipping away at the lead, posting single tallies in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh to make it a 5-4 game. A&M added one more in the top of the eighth to set the score at 6-4, but UA would not give in. Alabama was able to plate one in the ninth and had the go-ahead run aboard but would get no closer.
• The Tide offense was led by the 2-through-5 hitters. Gentry and Williamson each finished with three hits while Gentry also added a team-high three RBI to go with one run scored. Reeves and McCullough trailed closely behind, recording two hits and a pair of runs to round out the foursome.
• A two-run home run from senior Joe Breaux powered Alabama to a 4-2 win over Samford on Tuesday. The victory helped UA complete the season sweep of the Bulldogs and finish 23-3 in non-conference pairings during 2019.
• Samford jumped out front first with a pair of solo home runs in the third to take a 2-0 lead. Alabama then got on the board after the stretch, scoring one in the seventh. An inning later a sacrifice fly from Reeves followed by the two-run homer from Breaux put the Tide in front for good.
• Randolph got the win thanks to 1.1 scoreless frame featuring three strikeouts. He followed the threesome of Cobb, freshman Jacob McNairy and redshirt junior Kyle Cameron, who combined to limit Samford to only two hits through 6.0 relief frames.

ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama baseball fell, 9-4, to sixth-ranked Georgia in a back-and-forth contest that saw the Bulldogs pull away late. Thursday's opener at Foley Field moved the Crimson Tide's record to 30-24 overall and 7-21 in Southeastern Conference play.

"We actually played a pretty good game tonight, but it got away from us there in the bottom of the eighth," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "It was a really competitive game against a really good team. To Georgia's credit, they did a good job of limiting us to one run in each of the four innings we scored. They're a very good team, very worthy of their ranking, and we're going to have to play our absolute best baseball to get a win tomorrow."

The two teams traded runs all night, with the Bulldogs posting crooked numbers in the third, sixth and eighth innings to secure the win. Georgia starter Cole Wilcox (3-1) got the victory while freshman Tyler Ras (1-3) suffered the loss for the Crimson Tide.

Georgia got on the board first thanks to a solo home run in the bottom of the second to gain a 1-0 advantage. Alabama came right back in the top of the third to even the score at one apiece. A pair of singles from juniors Justin King and Kolby Robinson got the first two on before the duo moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Brett Auerbachdelivered on the opportunity, with the junior sending a sacrifice fly to right for the Tide's first run.

The Bulldogs regained the lead with three runs in the home half of the third to make it a 4-1 affair, but the Tide would continue to battle. In the fifth, a solo home run from junior Kobe Morris cut into the Georgia lead. One inning later, Alabama added another run to pull within one at 4-3. A single from Morgan McCullough led off the inning, with the junior then putting himself in scoring position with a stolen base. The extra base would prove crucial, as a two-out single from senior Joe Breaux scored McCullough to cut the deficit down.

Georgia answered once again with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead back to three at 6-3 through six full. In the eighth, Alabama drew closer with a solo home run from Tyler Gentry. The roundtripper was the junior's team-leading 12th of the year and got Alabama to within two at 6-4, but UA would get no closer. The Bulldogs put up three in the eighth to make it a 9-4 game, the eventual final.

Alabama and Georgia return to the diamond on Friday for another 6 p.m. CT start at Foley Field. The game-two pitching matchup will feature a pair of righties in Brock Love, a redshirt junior, for the Crimson Tide, and junior Tony Locey for the Bulldogs. Fans can catch Friday's pairing live on SEC Network+.

Not good news for the struggling Hoover economy. They really were counting on Bama fans converging on their city. I guess they'll have to rely on barners and the few fans of the other teams. I don't think the Hoover Met will resemble the emptiness we saw in College Station for the softball tournament, but the place won't be nearly as packed as they wanted it to be.

ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama baseball fell to sixth-ranked Georgia by a score of 12-2 on Friday night at Foley Field. The game-two outcome clinches the series for the Bulldogs and moves the Crimson Tide to 30-25 overall, 7-22 in Southeastern Conference play.

"To Georgia's credit, they really took it to us tonight," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "They scored in six of the eight innings, got 17 hits and really beat us in all facets of the game. They're a really, really complete team, and (Foley Field) is a hard place to win. We're going to have to play our absolute best baseball tomorrow to keep our season going."

The Bulldogs tallied two-run innings on six occasions Friday for the series-clinching win. Alabama was able to get on the board with single tallies in the third and eighth, and had runners on base in nearly every inning, but was unable to pull any closer. Georgia starter Tony Locey (10-1) picked up the win with 6.0 innings of one-run baseball, while Crimson Tide starter Brock Love (5-5) was handed the loss.

Georgia jumped out front with a two-run second for the early advantage. Alabama would answer, cutting the lead in half with a solo home run from Tyler Gentry in the top of the third to make it a 2-1 game. The homer was the sophomore's team-leading 13th of the year and his second in as many games.

The Bulldogs then posted a pair of runs in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh before the Crimson Tide was able to add one more in the top of the eighth. A wild pitch brought Drew Williamson in from third for Alabama's second run. The freshman got aboard with a one-out walk and a double to center from fellow freshman T.J. Reeves moved Williamson to third before the run-scoring play. Georgia came right back in the home half of the eighth, notching its sixth pair of runs on the night for the 12-2 advantage.

Alabama and Georgia will wrap up the series on Saturday with a 1 p.m. CT first pitch at Foley Field. The Crimson Tide will send senior righty Sam Finnerty to the hill while the Bulldogs call on sophomore Emerson Hancock, also a right-hander. The regular-season finale for both teams can be seen on SEC Network+.

ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama baseball suffered a 9-1 loss to sixth-ranked Georgia on Saturday in the Crimson Tide's 2019 regular-season finale. The Tide wraps up the 2019 season with a 30-26 overall mark and a 7-23 record in Southeastern Conference play.

"I was proud of the way we came out; we came out aggressive and scored one in the first an almost had a second run," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "(Emerson) Hancock is a really, really talented pitcher, and he settled in, started stroking his secondary pitches in there and made it tough on us."

Alabama got on the board with a single tally in the top of the first to start the day's scoring. A leadoff single from junior Brett Auerbach gave the Tide a baserunner. Auerbach stole second to put himself in scoring position and advanced to third on an infield groundout. With two down, freshman T.J. Reeves delivered an RBI-single to short to put Alabama in front, 1-0.

The Bulldogs would do all the scoring from then on. Georgia posted a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings to go with one in the fifth before adding another two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings for the 9-1 win.

Georgia starter Emerson Hancock (8-2) earned the win with 7.0 innings of one-run baseball, highlighted by 10 strikeouts. Senior Sam Finnerty (6-8) suffered the loss in his final start for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama's 2019 season will now come to a close.

Year 2, crappy results.

Do we give him more than 3 years to get this program competitive again?
Yes. We have to.

The results were better this season than last even though we're in the tail end of the worst streak in Bama baseball history (well, tied with another.) However, there are signs that he's got the program headed in the right direction.

One thing you didn't see this year that you've seen repeatedly over the last several years: mid-week wins. A lot of that goes to how CBB is handling his scholarshipped pitchers. We've seen "arms" available for the mid-week games.

Early on this season I mentioned how we'd likely see similar results with win's and losses we had to take that into context. I've seen several SOS rankings with Bama playing a top ten schedule: all the while in a rebuilding mode.

Even Goff mentioned he thought it would take four years to be able to compete for a SEC title. And, he cut the legs off the program to a greater degree in one year.

I would say yes! I think the SOS was ranked at #9 this year and we compiled our best OOC record since something like 2002 or 2005!! The issue this year is an absolutely LOADED SEC West and overall SEC. The SEC will likely have 3-4 Top 8 National Seeds in the upcoming tourney!!!! UNREAL!

One of the biggest indicators to me of improvement is the RPI. Ended the current year at #42. Last year RPI was #82. Also just more competitive on the field in many cases. Yeah there were some bad losses and not the ending that we hoped for but I honestly believe he has them on the right track. JMO

@Elderfalsedemigod, @UAgrad93, @TerryP, thanks for the info. I haven't kept up with baseball much since Jim Wells left. That's why I asked. Lol.

I've followed baseball since Coach Wells first stint at UA and it has been hard at times to watch but Coach Bo has the program trending the right direction.
