🏈 Bama Spring Quarterback Battle

you took Saban's words out of context, and you continue to.

The fact that a sideline reporter asked if they were gonna try to fix BB8s mechanics probably means nothing about his mechanics, huh ?

I interpreted CNS physically covering his eyes, and saying sometimes its best to watch where the ball goes instead of looking at the mechanics the wrong way ? Ok, pal.

The fact that CNS did not defend BB8's mechanics when asked about them, and instead said it was best to try not to look at them as long as the results were good ? Yeah nothing to see here, move along.

And the Bama pundits out there having a discussion among themselves about his mechanics isn't happening either I suppose ?

Yep, I'm just creating this entire topic with my twisting of CNSs words.

Look buttercup, I get it. You're one of those never wrong types. So for the sake of not derailing a perfectly good thread lets agree to disagree. Hell I'll even tell you you're right so that you can go out in your front trailer area, and spike your mountain dew in front of your neighbors, and do your favorite TD dance. How does that sound sport ?

Hey... I'm just kidding. (that last part anyway) Seriously lets drop it here. I know where you stand; you know where I stand; lets move along.

Have a great day !

I have looked at Barnett's throwing motion and I really don't see anything wrong with it. He throws it from 3/4 arm position it looks like but he seems to finish in good position and the ball comes out quick. I am still suspect of his ability to throw the deep ball but he seems to get plenty of zip on the intermediate type passes so maybe I am wrong.

Don't think it matters unless he improves more over the summer or someone gets hurt, he probably wont be starting. I do think either way he starts next fall as the back up because which ever of the older guys get beat out will probably transfer, if they want to play.

Dude just graduated high school ya know. How bout we give him a year or two to put on some man muscle before expecting him to take the reigns of the best football team in the country at the University that represents all that is great about football?

I think he will be great but it just isn't time yet....

Arm slot will have something to do with it ( straight over the top, 3/4, etc.) as well as the possibility of an old shoulder or collarbone injury. I don't know how much of Saban's covering his eyes was directed at BB8 as much as it was giving the visual of Bernie Kosar throwing a ball. Some of those media guys probably had to pull up some video on Kosar to see what CNS was referring to since they are so young.

No, you are twisting his words from what he actually said (the mechanics look wonky, or unconventional like Bernie Kosar (who he even cited), but the end results are what matter and they have been good) into "his mechanics are a trainwreck awful."

And you already derailed the thread by getting butthurt about me saying you were twisting his words to mean what you want them to mean (for whatever reason).

Ease up, Mmkay?

Elite QB Tua Tagovailoa to visit Alabama

Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis dual-threat quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, a 2017 four-star prospect, is set to visit Alabama within the next couple of weeks, according to his Twitter account.

Alabama recently offered the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder after former quarterback commit Jake Fromm flipped to Georgia.

Tagovalioa joins four-star quarterback Lowell Narcisse as the only two signal callers in the 2017 class that hold Alabama offers and are uncommitted.

Rated the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 59 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite, Tagovailoa is also set to visit Auburn and Ole Miss.

Does anyone here live around Brantley, AL. ? Or more to the point has anyone here seen Jacob Free play ? He is 6'5" 200+ and actually runs really well for his size. His film doesnt blow you away or anything, but he makes some nice throws, and seems to get the job done. The interesting thing is ol Bobby Petrino has offered him over at LVille, and if Petrino thinks Free can run his offense you'd have to think hes a decent prospect.

Unless the flying Hawaiian (posted above) miraculously commits to Bama it starting to look like thin pickens.

All I know is this - our coaching staff is horrible at handling the QB position.

I tend to agree with you in regards to how the position has been handled.

As compared to whom? The staff hasn't been one lauded for having three starters available like Ohio State but they certainly haven't been criticized like the staff at LSU, or the head coach of A&M.

I live in Luverne and I covered a couple of Brantley's games last year. He's really fast for his size, the teams that they were playing last year just couldn't keep up. He does have a really strong arm but hes still very raw (primarily because of the coaching staff they have there, they really don't know what to do with them. The offense they run is a hybrid of pro style and spread). The talent around him is also very minuscule but he manages to work with it. One of the most exciting games I've ever seen was Brantley against Red Level (VERY small school) and Free led them back late in the game with some crazy plays (here is the story I wrote on it: http://www.andalusiastarnews.com/2015/09/19/down-to-the-wire-brantley-scores-in-final-seconds/). Free is a project but the upside is massive.

Bobby Petrino has offered him, and it looks like David Cutcliffe and Jimbo Fisher are both considering offering him. All three of those guys can usually identify a good QB prospect so it kinda leaves me wondering why Bama doesnt have a little more interest since we are basically down to a kid that lives in Hawaii, and another kid that used to be committed to the barn.

I know hes at least visited twice. I would imagine we will see an offer made by the Summer if his camps go well.

I spoke some words after that game that I don't normally use. Not the point of the thread but coaching snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that night. Free is a big kid and moves really well.
