Got to figure out a way to get SEC+ back. We dropped Dish after about 100 years and picked up YouTube TV. We still have the ESPN package and SEC network. With Dish if you had ESPN & SECN you got SEC+ in the deal but had to pay for ESPN+ 🤷‍♂️ Haven't figure out the SEC+ deal with YouTube.

You should be able to sign into the ESPN+ app with your YTTV account. That’s how it works for me.

OT: I noticed that SVB and Murph were both following the UVA coach on X. It brought something to mind.

A lot of people don't realize what an "ambassador" Murph is for both UA and softball as a whole. I can't tell you the number of times I've followed a story, unrelated to UA, and found Murph in another schools' coaches timeline.

The Crimson Tide defeat St. Thomas, 7-3, and Virginia, 3-1, Friday at Rhoads Stadium

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.
– Alabama softball made its 2024 Rhoads Stadium debut Friday evening at the Easton Bama Bash with a pair of wins, defeating St. Thomas, 7-3, before downing Virginia, 3-1, in the nightcap.

Alabama (7-0) opened the day against St. Thomas (1-6), taking a 3-0 lead after an inside-the-park home run from Kali Heivilin before the Tommies tied it up at 3-3 in the third with a three-run home run. The Tide broke the tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, bringing the game to its eventual final tally of 7-3. In game two against Virginia (4-3), a two-run home run from Lauren Esman put Alabama in front in the first inning and remained ahead the entirety of the game, eventually winning 3-1.

After leading the team in hits last weekend, Abby Duchscherer stayed hot on Friday with a team-leading four hits across both games, including an RBI in each. Esman was a combined 3-for-7 with four of the team's nine RBIs, two of which came on a two-run home run against Virginia, her first homer as a member of the Crimson Tide. Sophomore transfer Riley Valentine also launched her first Alabama home run, a solo shot that bounced off the scoreboard against St. Thomas. Kali Heivilin joined the home run party with an inside-the-park homer against the Tommies, the 12th inside-the-park home run in program history.

In the circle, Jaala Torrence (2-0) pitched 3.2 shutout relief innings to earn the win over St. Thomas while Kayla Beaver (3-0) took home her third complete-game win of the young season in game two over Virginia.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy

"Today was awesome. We had really good energy from the crowd. I thought we had a great attendance tonight. The weather cooperated, so it couldn't have been better. Plus, we came away with two wins."

The Crimson Tide run-rule St. Thomas, 8-0, and edge out Virginia, 3-2

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.
– Alabama softball grabbed another pair of wins Saturday at the Easton Bama Bash, defeating St. Thomas 8-0 in five innings before holding out for a hard-fought 3-2 win over Virginia.

Alabama's (9-0) bats led the way vs. St. Thomas (1-7), scoring eight runs backed by 5.0 shutout innings in the circle from Jaala Torrence (3-0). The Tide scored three unanswered to start the second game against Virginia (4-4) before the Cavaliers narrowed it with two in the third inning. The pitching combination of Jocelyn Briski (3-0) and Kayla Beaver kept the score the same the rest of the way, earning the win and a save, respectively.

Larissa Preuitt was 3-for-5 between the two games, including an RBI triple to drive in the final run of the game against the Tommies. Abby Duchscherer was 1-for-2 in game one but failed to reach base against Virginia, ending her career-best hit streak at eight games. Bailey Dowling hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot against the Cavaliers. In the circle, Torrence and Briski each took home their third wins of the season while Beaver tallied her first save with the Crimson Tide, the eighth of her career.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy

"Yesterday we were short a little bit on the run rule, but today we got it done. When you are the home team and there's a potential run rule in effect, that's the goal - to end it early so your defense doesn't have to go back out for another inning. It was really good offense all the way around. I also thought our defense played really well. The pitching was great all day, and that helped us squeak out a win in the second game against a really good Virginia team."
