šŸˆ Bama more dialed in this offseason

"You can't be late to workouts no more," Montgomery explained to The Bama Standard. "No more jewelry. No more necklaces. None of that. It's not a fashion show. It's football.

"Shoutout to Coach [Dave] Ballou, our head strength coach. He's not playing that shit. Excuse my language, but he's just not. If somebody late -- we had a few people late, I'm not gonna throw nobody under the bus -- if somebody late to workouts, everybody got 15 up-downs on Ballou's whistle. And then whoever late got to push a plate and do their workout, and 15 up-downs. Like, no jewelry, no nothing.

He's not the only one who's saying this. I can't remember who it was, but there was a player who said same thing about this team few weeks ago. The culture has shifted this off-season. This is in line with what others had been saying about last year team, it's not all on Milroe .... There was lot going on in that locker room. One day we might hear one or two stories about certain players.....

Sir? Explain. We did?!
The lines on both sides got man handled a lot… So yes there must be much more brute force on both lines…We couldn’t run the ball very good and a lot of sacks…The offense line lost most all of the leadership and experience… So they must grow up fast…Under CKD the line most be more athletic and stronger to go with it..So some must slim down without losing strength..

This is in line with what we talked about a few months ago... that after the conclusion of the season, DeBoer was going to tighten the screws when it came to how he handled the team. He was in a position last year where he felt it was best to give a longer runway because of the roster challenges. Now, he can put his foot down harder and start to create the culture that he wants/needs. It's still easier said than done with college athletes, especially at the level of UA's, but it's a balance that must be found for sustained success.

Players being late to workouts with absolutely piss me off if I was wanting to win a championship. How the seniors or the staff allowed that is beyond me.

I do hope everyone is locked in more. What separated Alabama from 2008-2020 wasn't just the coaching staff and talent. The intrinsic motivation to get better every day and hold everyone accountable to the standard is what separated them from the pack.

Wasn't there some juniors and seniors back in 2015 that decided to suspend Tony Brown or someone for breaking curfew during the playoffs?

Similar and much worse happened under Saban, but yes, he usually had enforcers on the roster that handled it.

The council on the ā€˜12 squad sent 2 freshmen home from Miami before we beat Notre Dame’s ass for our 3rd title under Saban! I want to say that Dillon Lee was one of those guys. He played a significant role in our ā€˜15 title team.
