| FTBL Bama, Miami, and the comparisons of talent for the NFL draft.

Since we saw what happened with the NFL draft in 2010, and the years after that draft, there have been more than a handful of conversations about the talent on hand with references back to the streak the Hurricanes had in the first half of the last decade.

I never paid close attention to those conversations. There's no doubt the teams in Miami were some of the most talent laden in history.

How do we look at those Miami teams now when we look at the number of kids Bama has put in the draft; specifically first rounders? It's much closer than you might think, or believe.

Here's a quick look back at Miami and their first round picks:

2000: 1
2001: 4
2002: 5
2003: 4
2004: 6
2005: 1

BAMA:
2010: 2
2011: 4
2012: 4
2013: 3
2014: 2
2015: 2

The streak from '01 to '04 of 19 first rounders is incredible. We're not going to hit/match that number this spring.

With Amari and Landon going in the first round, the Tide is looking at six consecutive years of putting multiple players in the first round. That's a number Miami didn't reach.

Between 2006 and 2008 the Hurricane program put four more in the first round putting their streak at nine years with a first round pick (none in 2009.)

Looking at 2016...between A'Shawn, Jarren, and a few others we'll likely get as many as two in that draft as well.

• The Bama program certainly isn't at the level of the Miami program...getting honorable mention though.
• Miami's streak of having a first round pick ran from 1995-2009! 15 years...geez...
• Andre was a first rounder in 2009 putting the current streak at seven years (with this years draft.)

Some good stats @TerryP thanks. Time will tell if our line up of draft picks thought all rounds the past few years have similar success in the League as the Miami bunch. Gore, McGahee, and Portis all had at least a few very good years at RB, Andre Johnson and Shocky have had some very good years at receiver. Then on D, Sean Taylor, Wilfork, Rolle, Vilma, Ed Reed - Geez. That's just a few of them that are now household names.

Maybe we'll look back one day at our guys during this run with just as solid of NFL careers. We have a good shot at it! Lacy, Julio, Dareus, and Mosely are sure doing their part. I think Clinton-Dix and Dre are coming on strong and finding their way too. Not to mention all our solid O linemen.

That 2001 Miami team will likely go down as the most talented team ever assembled in college football history. And their production in the NFL has to be the most of any one college team as well. Watch The U Part II and it'll remind you very quickly how badass those boys were.
