🏀 Bama loses 72-68. Not a bad loss

Great effort from the team. Coleman played out of his mind and made 3s from basically NBA range. Free throws killed is. 13-20 from the FT line.

Oregon shot 53% from the field in the 2nd half- 9 of 15 coming from Brooks.

Considering Alabama is without Hale and Ingram, and Obasahan having an off night, this is a good outing from. Bama. Oregon has a great team

The team broke down defensively in the second half. I don't remember the Tide being dunked on as many times as they were last night. I'm disappointed we couldn't hold a twelve point halftime lead.

This team under Johnson is so very, very different. The thing that hasn't changed is our inconsistency shooting. And when Retin and Jimmie go to the line we're lucky to make one of two. Most of the time they miss the front end of the one and one.

Avery Johnson will get them to the tourney. I swear he's got bigger things in mind for the future though.

Retin - Free throw percentage for his career 68%. Some of the baseball players would like to have a few of the line drives he throws up there. Don't get me wrong. He's one of my favorite players to watch, just not shooting FTs.

I think I'd rather have Coleman on the line. Career 80%

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but that game last night was beyond huge. Had the Tide won the game, they are in the tourney. They've got more work to do now.

Wins over Wichita State and Notre Dame. Notre Dame looks to be the more impressive. Holding on to that big half-time lead would have given the Tide its most impressive win of the season.

If Bama goes into the SEC schedule at 9-3, as it should, 18 games remain. Win half, Bama sits at 18-12. Winning half would be an accomplishment. But 18 wins will not get this team into the tourney. So, two more wins in the SEC tourney?

Consider Bama must play Vandy, Kentucky, Mississippi St., Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Texas A and M. That's seven teams that will or have been in the top 25. Lots of chances to get quality wins. But Bama must beat one or two of those teams, no matter how many total wins they have at season's end.

I think if anyone can pull off a bid with this team, it's AJ. I'm just saying that game last night was really big.

Not having Ingram for the rest of the season is gonna have some impact on RO. He is doing very good when hes playing 2 guard and running off screens and having the ball fed to him. You can tell and def could last nite hes still not comfortable playing the point. Most of his turnovers normally come when hes playing point and trying to run the offense. Missing Hale being able to spread the floor and handle some out high didnt help things either

I agree with all sentiments ITT. Win or lose, this team is exponentially better than last year, just from the aspects of better ball movement and shot selection alone.

Losing 2 key players last year would have meant a loss by 20+ to Oregon. I agree with the poster in the in-game thread about not liking moral victories, but damn. Not a bad loss at all. This is a top-30 RPI opponent that we narrowly lost to. If we're 9-3 going in to league play, our league is strong enough this year that 20 wins gets us in the tourney. I think we can pull out 11 SEC wins this year with Hale back.

Adding to that: CAJ is the man! Love that guy! On the The Game last week, Ryan Fowler asked CAJ essentially what would happen if the NBA were to come back calling. CAJ responded that he actually loves college more because of being able to positively impact student athletes on a personal level, and the sense of community felt on a college campus. He says that he and Coach Saban are great friends, and meet on a weekly basis. Said that his daughter that just graduated college fell in love with Alabama the minute he was hired, and even booked a flight to ATL for the SECCG in advance because she just knew that our football team would be there. He said his family loves it here, and he's at least got 4 years because he wants to see his son graduate from here, and says he sees himself well beyond that. He said he and his family bleed 100% Crimson and will be here to see great things accomplished as long as we'll have him here.

All that is paraphrased, but you get the idea. This man, as already evidenced, is the perfect hire for our program. I'd like to see him stay for 8-10 years. Just seeing how he's marketed the program in the off-season, and how much he's improved the product on the floor, makes me think he's already earned this years salary. We make it to the Dance, and that's just icing on the cake for this year.

Bama would have to beat UGA on Saturday to be at 9-9.

Out of that next list of teams in the next paragraph, Bama did in fact beat one team, Texas A and M.

Unless Bama makes an incredible run through the SEC Tournament, this team will play in the NIT. Maybe we'll have a long run through that one and make it to New York. It was fun watching them the last time that happened.

Oregon is now a number one seed. The Tide had them down by 15. Geesh

Bama beat Wichita State and Notre Dame as well, both in the tourney.
