COLUMBIA, Mo. – Steady offense helped Alabama baseball to a 10-4 win over Missouri on Saturday evening at Taylor Stadium. The Crimson Tide clinched the series with the game-two victory and is now 28-12 on the season and 8-9 in Southeastern Conference play.

Alabama scored in seven of the nine frames and finished with 15 hits and five walks on the way to 10 runs. The Tide crossed one in the first and added three in the fourth for the 4-0 advantage. Missouri got on the board with one in the fourth but was answered by UA with a single tally in the fifth. The Tigers were able to cut the lead to one with a three-run fifth but were held scoreless the rest of the way. Alabama took advantage of the drought, posting single tallies in the sixth, eighth and ninth with a two-run seventh in between for five unanswered runs to ensure the series-clinching win.

The Tide reached the leadoff man in seven of the nine innings, including home runs to start the seventh and ninth. The homer in the seventh came from Colby Shelton, who led the Alabama offense with a 3-for-5 night that included a double, two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored. UA's roundtripper in the ninth was off the bat of Andrew Pinckney, who finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs and one stolen base. Also homering was Caden Rose, who added a solo shot in the seventh.

Hunter Hoopes (1-0) earned the win in his first appearance for Alabama this season. The graduate reliever worked 1.1 scoreless frames with a hit, a walk and two strikeouts. Riley Quick finished things off, securing his second save with 2.1 innings that included two hits, a walk and two punchouts.

From Assistant Coach Jason Jackson

"Every time Missouri scored and made a little push, we came right back at them and answered tonight. We used the longball to get our runs – Colby (Shelton) had two, (Andrew) Pinckney and Caden (Rose) each had one. But anytime you pound out 15 hits and get 10 runs, you expect to win those games. The biggest thing to me was that we scored in six straight innings to end the game and that helped us put it away."

LSU completes the sweep of Ole Miss, barely... took a pinch hit 3 run HR in the top of the 9th to get the lead... then they almost lost on a walk off HR that was just shy of going out in the bottom half... Will be a big series in Baton Rouge next weekend for Bama... LSU is stacked and has won every SEC series so far, but this sweep against Ole Miss was their only sweep. Would like to see Bama grab 1 for sure... anything else would be icing. LSU will score some runs on UA's starters though... these won't be Mizzou level bats.

My guy Alton Davis II, closes it out with a 9 out save, Bama sweeps with a 3-2 win!

Mizzou ain't real good, but that was a great weekend for Bama to get all 3 on the road. Next up. Samford on Tuesday night at the Joe, then 3 at LSU.
Young arms are beginning to step up! Hoopes last night! Davis and Quick starting to hold down the back end as well!! Mid to high 90’s from BOTH sides!!! Love it!!
Win Tuesday and then focus on getting at least 1 in BR this weekend. Getting 1 would be great to be honest!!

Really hope the plan is for both of those guys to be starters next year. Really been impressed with the young arms this year... bumps in the road have been there, but that's expected... and will continue to happen. Quick needs to improve his location, but I think he will. When Davis fills out his frame a tad, he's going to be even more dominate... a ton of potential with him. Really like Kade Woods as a future closer... but there's a really good mix of young arms if they can keep them around and develop them. Would have liked to have seen sleeves on Davis today, but that's not on him. Should have been mandatory from the HC.

When I was coaching at Sylacauga, the HC for baseball had some rules for all players and coaches. One, everyone wore sleeves under their jersey EVERY game!!!! Regardless of the weather!

We were the same way... made for some hot games in Mobile weather, but arm injuries were somewhere between rare and non-existent. It is an old school way of coaching, but that doesn't make it outdated... there were (and I'm sure still are) some sports orthopedic Dr's that swore by the practice.
