Coach Saban has his priorities in order. We should be very thankful to have such a man as the coach of our beloved Crimson Tide.

There may be players on the team this year that aren't giving it everything they've got, but i can't pick em out. I think the guys played hard and came up short in 6 games. big whoop! they look better to me this year than they've looked in the last 5 years including 2005.

looking forward to a bowl game and '08 here!

That's definitely the sunshine view of it, and I basically agree.

Although we haven't showed immediate signs of "heading in the right direction", I believe we still are. Only time will tell how well we will be, we just have to stick it through right now.

Im not sure about the looking better than 05, but............................................
Without a doubt heading in the right direction.

I guess it hasnt been said, we are 4-4 in conference play, much better than the 2-6 from last year.

Just ended up blowing two out of conference games. A 4-4 SEC record isnt bad for someone in his first season with a team though. Some shockers, but thats what you get.

Now for continuity to take effect and steadily get better.

Good point. Keep in mind we honestly gave a couple of big games away. We really should have beat LSU and in my opinion Ga.

Not to beat a dead horse, I think if we would have won against LSU the following loses would not have happened. It just seemed to knock the wind out of them. ^^DH

Indeed, and the team probably viewed the rest of the season as a waste. "Championship or bust"
Fans can be like that too I guess, unless we win it all, we still couldve done more.

But I think this game and the week leading up to it showed that that attitude is about, and in some ways has started, to change.

After beating Kansas, Mizzou's Gary Pinkel said, "It's amazing how much better you coach when you have good players."

That speaks volumes.

1. better pass protection
2. better design and execution of running plays that aren't Darby up the middle
3. MUCH better special teams play from PK to returns and coverage
4. more completed long balls as you will recall the unbelievable number of overthrows by Brodie Overthroyle

we are better... just not quite a TEAM yet. it's going to get better soon.

i'm looking forward to a few of these next year :)

I agree 100%, the Crimson Tide is headed in the right direction. Remember, CNS will have a bountiful recruiting class sign in Feb. that are all his and his staffs kids. Last year, WAS NOT a true Saban class. Give CNS some time to build some depth at DL and other key spots for the Tide. Many said earlier in the summer that this would be long year, heck some even predicted 7-5 or 6-6 records because they know football and know what Saban and compnay were up against with this team.

To follow up with what was just said, most of us believed and stated that a 7-5, 8-4 team was most likely. We fell a bit short of that. I think it's THE WAY we fell short. I mean, we never lost a game by more than 7 points. So, we are and were competitive. But contests versus Miss State and La Monroe should NOT HAVE been competitive. Those should have been wins, close or not. WINS. That translates into an 8-4 season, and most of us are peachy keen with that, except we would have lost to AU possibly.

6-6 under these conditions is stinky. The team underperformed the past 3 games. That goes back to coaching, I hate to say, and we would have told Shula that. Why not tell Saban that? I think CNS knows that the best effort was not given, and that's more gut-wrenching than giving it your all and coming up short.

I would have expected these players to play with more heart for that Crimson jersey, but let's face it, this ain't the 70's when kids wanted to go to certain schools. Now, it's more like the NFL, except without the paychecks. At most places....

I can point out two very important ones and a couple of less noticable ones.

1. We beat Arky in another close overtime game. We could not do that against them under Shula.

2. We KICKED UT. Something we never did under Shula.

The lesser ones are:

1. Stayed close in every game. We are about 7 plays away from being undefeated.

2. We showed up for all the rivalry games. I do not share the belief that we did not show up for Auburn.

3. We are one of the least penalized teams in the nation.

4. Our undermanned defense actually played well for the most part this year.

5. Our offense showed moments of being good despite it being a first year system with a brand new OC.

CNS' apologized for the teams performance these past 3 weeks in his press conference after the AU game. He knows full well how the team underperformed for these games.

The fortunate side to this season is that some of the sorry attitudes on the team will be graduating or hopefully losing a scholarship. I just hope the new recruits don't harbor such bad attitudes.

Fair enough, but that's the sunshine view. We could also mention many negatives, but I like to stay positive. :D

That's a big part of the problem. Our guys can't lose their confidence and passion when they have heartbreaking losses like that. It's happened so many times in the last few years. Saban has to correct that somehow. The team has to figure out how to bounce back when it happens.
