šŸˆ Bama gets commit from #1 kicker Will Reichard (Hoover)

I feel like he is the most well-rounded kicker that we have put out in high school probably ever,ā€ Sailer told SEC Country. ā€œI love his makeup both mentally and physically. I think what he has gone through is a big part of that.ā€

Reichard, the nation’s No. 1 kicker from Hoover (Ala.) High School, committed to the Crimson Tide over Georgia, LSU and Oregon. He was the only kicker Alabama was targeting in the 2019 class, and now the team has its top target at the position.
Sailer has been teaching Reichard since the sixth grade. He was kicking alongside high school kickers back in middle school. Sailer said Reichard always has been years ahead of any other kicker his age.

ā€œIf he was in the Class of 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020, he would still be the No. 1 kicker in the country,ā€ Sailer said. ā€œHe’s that good. If I brought him to any campus of where my current college starters are, they would be fearful of their job if Will came to compete. I will go a step further.

I even believe you could put him in an NFL camp right now. He’s that good. He’s ready for the next level.
ā€œThat’s how special Will is. Everyone fears Will, no matter what age he is.ā€

Alabama BREAKING: Alabama lands commitment from nation’s No. 1...

Is he that GOOD? I know we have always had problem with our kickers! I can tell you one thing about him and that is! He got a great smile! Is it that he coming to Bama?

Also have that grad transfer coming from Temple this year. At this point I dont even really care about the rankings for these guys, how many top 10 guys has Saban signed at kicker? Not many of them have panned out.

2008: Corey Smith No. 12 kicker in the country.
2010: Jay Williams No. 19 kicker in the country.
2010: Cade Foster No. 10 kicker in the country.
2012: Adam Griffith No. 2 kicker in the country.
2013: JK Scott No. 4 kicker in the country.
2017: Joseph Bulovas No. 1 kicker in the country.
2019: Will Reichard No. 1 kicker in the country. (Committed)

Well we have a former kicker for a STs Coordinator now, so I expect that track record to drastically improve.

I think this will pay off even bigger than expected. You may be amazed at what a coach who played the position can do for these kids. No more TE coach getting the kickers and sending them off to the other field with a bag of footballs to kick and tell them to chart from 35-55 yards out, left, middle, and right hash.

Exactly.

Hoping so.

Well, it's been a little while since there's been real competition at the PK position. Hopefully this will push both kickers this year - and then next year Bulovas and Reichard will hopefully make each other better, and may the best man win each time!

I too am glad and a little relieved to see the senior come in from Temple. You never know, but it could very well be the stop gap we need to get to Reichard.
