🏈 Bama fans celebrating and clowning a 3 point win against us is how you know:

I'm betting we would have lost this game with last year's team.
BTW, if Milroe had went 23/31 for 200 yards 3 TDs & no picks, we would have been ecstatic!
Now, in just a few games it's "Well.... Ty was off & didn't play his best game"
100%. We are use to TY 300+ yards. But his wide receivers didnt help him
But TY still was accurate and effective. Some of that play calling when we get into scoring positions suck.
But overall ......TY was damn good....and even better when he had to be...

Vs Tennessee is gonna be...a show time...Tennessee will score...we better be on best game O n D

Would you agree though that even with Saban... all the changes that have happened in the game from openly paying players whatever (better rosters across the league and nation) to expanded playoffs (harder to win the title)... things were not going to be the same anyway?
Sure you have to ack that spreading out the talent evens things out more but, I still believe CNS wins consistently at a high level because he was that good. Only difference in my mind would be margin of victory but no way to know that at this point. CNS certainly would not lose to inferior teams when favored by double digits. Also doubt his teams would be giving up an average of 150+ ypg on rush D. Again not something that can be proven just an opinion on a message board.

Just a casual thought.

What are the chances we see another coach with the same record against ranked opponents like we're seeing with DeBoer?

I see no reason to continue with "does not mean he's not a good coach." We know that already. He is.

I'm still thinking you're stuck in 2011 with expectations. Others saw a defense that cut Missouri in half yesterday; literally.
Yep and that is my prerogative to do so. I think the standard may have change some but not going from 60-70 ypg rush D to 150+. That is not acceptable in any era... That points to the D line and front 7 are not getting it done. I think this goes back to recruiting and D Line coaching personally. I am just saying lets not be ok with that or try and make it sound good or at least ok. Think what this team would be with better DL play. All of these games are much wider margin of victory AND you do not lose to FSU. They are getting better and show signs but lack consistency.

BTW I only saw the 1xt qtr to where we went up 17-7. I have since watched the rest of the game. My takeaway us the D played well except for three windows of time during the game - 1st drive with scripted plays, 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd half and then the last scoring drive Mizzou had after Bama went up by 10. Just crazy lapses seemingly on that last scoring drive..

IMO, both of these are true... Saban is the best CFB coach in our lifetimes s it stands to reason that anyone who follows him isn't going to measure up to his entire body of work. Also, had Saban stuck around for 5 more seasons... or had CFB undergone this transformational period 12 years ago, his ultimate accomplishments would look a good bit different.

We will never know but I do think CNS was just that good that he would have found a way. Never thought I would even remotely say Bama had a coach as good as Bear but CNS measured up except for his record agains the Barn. Not a bad record but had some struggles compared to other teams. I wanted a domination of the Barn that was equivolent to what he did against the Viles.

I've made the argument before here (years ago) that Saban at Bama was one of the best things that could have happened to auburn. And I fully believe had Bama just been mediocre Bama still after Shula, auburn never wins their 2010 title.

Bear burried the Barn... The only hope they had was the Bear could not live forever. Under CNS they new it would be a challenge but they had success and as you say their only NC since the 50's under CNS's watch. They had some hope...
