BTW, did any of you guys notice USC has ND scheduled for the next six years in a row? I'm not putting ND higher than they should be in terms of that being a really tough season-ender...but I know we'll hear about it non-stop the last weekend of November.

I realize that. It's a game I'll watch the box score on, annually, and anyone who doesn't know its history is likely a BOG (if there is such a thing.)

I think ND is looking for relevance. They can't be in a conference race, their schedule is a mix of ACC and ND-traditional rivals (Stanford, USC, Purdue). By moving the game to "Rivalry Week," they can at least get into the hype of a rivalry.

In terms of ratings that'll be a weekend to watch. 3:30 ET featuring what's likely to be a Bama vs Auburn game (nationally televised on CBS) versus a ND vs USC game (nationally on NBC.)

ND and USC are an annual rivalry game, so nothing surprising about them being on the schedule for the next 6 years. ND has to fill in their schedule with annual games like this, since they are independent. Now, all that said, fuck ND.

My interest in this has more to do with NBC that afternoon than it does the annual games ND schedules. I'm a bit of a ratings junkie...the numbers intrigue me.

While I don't expect the SECW to boil down to the last weekend again ... if it were to do so I imagine it would be quite a blood bath for NBC. We almost have to expect Ohio State and Michigan to get a good spot that day. Depending on how the Big12 shakes itself out the TCU vs Okie State could get a pretty big draw as well and that's still leaving games like CU vs UofSC, UCLA vs Stanford, UF vs FSU, et. al. taking up primetime slots.

As a side note: Will people be anxiously awaiting the A&M vs LSU game that weekend? I suspect both will be out of the SECW race at that point and their fans will be thinking Citrus Bowl, or maybe a shot at the Peach.

I would like to see Bama go back to the previous Three Year policy of H/H/NS. Further enhanced by the NS game being with the same opponent. Bama has the wherewithal to make that happen. For example, if Bama and Texas scheduled a H/H, I don't think they would have any problem at all with having one of the Kickoff games scheduling Bama-Texas for their game in the third year.

The ten year series with PSU was a bit much. Three year H/H/NS would be ideal.

If they go head to head, the ND/USC game loses. The Birmingham market is the king of cfb. Most of the time, the Birmingham market has more eyes on a game than the teams involved own markets. The exceptions are when those games go up against an Alabama or Auburn game, more so slanted towards Bama games. As a whole, other major games get a better nationwide number but once you remove the Birmingham market from any game, it drops precipitously.
