Florida toasted Bama's D for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. On their next possession it looked like they had scored again (against the same DB), but the replay showed that the receiver never had possession of the ball. So Florida had to settle for a field goal.
I was very concerned the way the game started out, but as the game went on it was clear that the opening score was an aberration. Florida and the home crowd at the Swamp were all jacked up at the beginning of the game, and Bama had to survive the surge of emotion at the beginning. Then they settled down and constricted the Gator offense like an anaconda.
After giving up a td on Florida's first drive, the Bama D gave up only three points the rest of the game. The game was practically over BEFORE Brantley got hurt, because a fourteen point lead over a team that CANNOT run the ball is almost insurmountable no matter what starters a team still has in the game.
Hats off to the Bama D.
